Kim Gallagher, Executive Director of Marketing at Nuuly, shared her thoughts on Nuuly's approach to plugging into cultural moments like Charli XCX's "Brat Summer" with The Business of Fashion: "Urban Outfitters-owned rental platform Nuuly platform has noticed searches for Charli’s Sweat tour, set to kick off in September, start to tick up [...] The company is watching to see if there is enough demand to warrant a dedicated edit, like Nuuly has done for Taylor Swift’s Eras and Beyoncé's Renaissance tours, or if the rental service will just keep referencing it on social media." Meet Laura Petrini: Nuuly's Director of User Experience Design, who has been with the brand for more than 5 years—since before our launch! Laura leads the UX team at Nuuly, and spends her days designing the digital experiences for Nuuly’s site and app. She also works on the behind-the-scenes rental software that keeps Nuuly running smoothly. Laura told us that she enjoys working on something that fills a need in fashion. “I love being a part of it all—making something really special that leads the way in an innovative space, prioritizes sustainability and brings so much joy.” When she isn’t working her design magic, you might find Laura swapping out her computer for arts and crafts. She enjoys playing with line art, painting, woodworking photography in the South Philly art studio she shares with her friends. And at 5pm on a Friday? You’ll find her escaping into a podcast or audiobook—most recently, Your Brain on Art by Ivy Ross and Susan Magsamen. Creativity isn’t just a hobby for Laura: it’s also the aspect of her job she enjoys the most. “I love getting to craft design solutions in often uncharted territory.” Thank you, Laura, for all the innovation you bring to Nuuly. #nuuly #meettheteam #uxdesign #uxdesigner

1 in 5 Americans have a disability, and disabilities come in many forms - some congenital, some degenerative, and some temporary. Getting access to fashionable clothing that is also functional without the help of a tailor can be a challenge for many individuals. There just aren't many attractive options. Last year, URBN's ADAPT Employee Resource Group pitched a business proposal for an adaptive clothing line to the Anthropologie executive team. The idea was to take some of Anthropologie's best selling styles and adjust elements of the design to make them more universally accessible. The concept was immediately embraced, and their team got to work bringing in experts throughout each phase of the process, including soliciting design, fit and marketing feedback from the disability community. This launch is incredibly meaningful to me on a personal level, and I am so proud of the collaboration that happened across the URBN community (and especially the Anthropologie team) to make this happen. I hope that it can play a small part in making the fashion industry a more inclusive place and also make getting dressed a little bit easier (and more fun!). https://lnkd.in/ezG5sgsK

Meet Terry Wang: Nuuly's Senior Manager of Quality Assurance Engineering—and first ever member of the QA team! Since 2019, before Nuuly even launched, he’s been uncovering bugs, testing system limits and making sure every feature delivered to our subscribers is in tip-top shape. As Nuuly continues to grow, Terry and his team are working hard to keep our site app running smoothly. He encourages his team to meet every obstacle with an open mind, since his work philosophy goes a little like this: “Always attempt before refusing. Saying ‘no’ without trying denies opportunities for growth and discovery. Approach tasks with optimism, curiosity, and a willingness to explore new possibilities.” When we asked Terry his favorite thing about Nuuly, he told us that he loves working with a team that encourages people to express themselves, and values everyone’s opinions. Outside of work, you can usually find Terry hanging out with his dog, Luca, or visiting one of his favorite restaurants. He’s also an art lover and avid toy collector, so you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of his Dunny collection (pictured below!) Thanks for chatting with us, Terry—we’re so grateful for all that you do to keep Nuuly Nuulying. #nuuly #meettheteam #qaengineer #qaengineering

In the era of so-called subscription fatigue, #subscription clothing rental service Nuuly has managed to not only increase its number of subscribers, but also turn a profit while its competitors are scrambling for #profitability. Nuuly, which is owned by Urban Outfitters, hit its first growth spurt in Q3 of last year. Nuuly’s net sales came in about $65.5 million last October, up from $35.2 million in that same quarter the year prior, marking a nearly 86% increase, according to the company’s earnings report. The clothing rental company also amassed nearly 200,000 subscribers as of last December, according to a spokesperson. On this episode of the Digiday Podcast, we caught up with Kim Gallagher, executive director of marketing at Nuuly to talk about the company’s growth plans through 2024 and beyond.

Excited to share that our Zero Waste Daniel collaboration was featured in the The New York Times' Vanessa Friedman’s “Open Thread” newsletter where she notes how more brands should explore upcycling clothing. See the image for the full excerpt:

A feature in Sourcing Journal’s “Rivet,” highlights the collection, showcasing Daniel’s signature patchwork design upcycling ingenuity. The story notes that many pieces from the collection have butterfly motifs, symbolizing the transformation of the upcycled garments. Daniel states that our subscribers will be able to feel the love through every garment. The story includes commentary from Sky Pollard, Head of Product at Nuuly, sharing how Daniel’s signature zero-waste approach aligns perfectly with our Re_Nuuly program transforms over a thousand retired pieces from our rental inventory.
