Meet Shalmali Gadgil - Managing Director: This is Shalmali's third iteration of cultivate tomorrow going strong!! Her passions lie at the intersection of Bioengineering and Sustainable Technology - in-turn making her into a huge food tech nerd! Shalmali graduated with a Biotechnology degree from the University of Aberdeen, and is currently based in London as a bioengineer. She hopes to eventually develop a career as a researcher in alternative protein development. In her free time Shalmali is an avid runner who has now caught the marathon bug (that seems to be going around), and also loves playing tennis and cooking for large groups of friends. #cellag #cultivatedmeat #culturedmeat #altprotein #bioengineer #foodtech #foodscience #sustainability #climatechange

Cultivate Tomorrow hackathon and other cell ag programming for university students. Let's reimagine the future of food.
About us
Cultivate Tomorrow is the first US hackathon focused solely on cellular agriculture and cell cultured food. This hackathon will work to lower the barrier to enter the cell cultured food industry for STEM and non-STEM individuals. We will create a large network and community of diverse individuals with different backgrounds, skills, and interests. Together we will brainstorm, innovate, and re-imagine the future of food. This event is open to all undergraduate and graduate students across the US who are interested in becoming more immersed in this field. We believe that only through cross-collaboration will this industry succeed in redefining the food system and allocation of our planet's natural resources.

This week we're introducing our fellow Managing Directors, Lauren and Shalmali!! Just a reminder, applications for this year's Hackathon is opening soon! Looking forward to meeting all the amazing talents in the cell ag space!! Meet Lauren Kinsey - Co-managing Director: This is Lauren’s fourth year as an organizer for the Cultivate Tomorrow Hackathon, and she can’t wait to see what innovative ideas students develop this year. She is currently living in Boston, MA for her PhD program in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Tufts University. Now in the second year of her PhD, Lauren is conducting research on bioreactor systems and edible scaffolds in the Kaplan Lab. Lauren first heard of cellular agriculture on a podcast back in 2017, and it quickly became her passion. After graduate school, she hopes to continue a career in food tech as a bioprocess engineer. #cellag #cultivatedmeat #culturedmeat #altprotein #bioreactor #scaffolds #foodtech #foodscience #sustainability #climatechange

Next off is Laura from our fellow Marketing Team! Meet Laura Jones - Marketing Director Laura is a second year PhD student in the Kaplan lab at Tufts University, and studies genetic engineering of plants for molecular farming of growth factors, as well as microalgae or plant co-culture systems. This is her second year volunteering with Nucleate Cultivate. Last year she helped organize and promote the spring seminar series. After graduation, Laura hopes to work in the private sector in R&D developing plant-based cell ag products. Outside of work, Laura enjoys distance running, acoustic folk music, and gardening. She can't wait to be part of this year's Hackathon, and hopes all our followers will join the program! #cellag #cultivatedmeat #culturedmeat #altprotein #geneticengineering #molecularfarming #plantscience #microalgae #plantbasedfood #foodtech #sustainability #climatechange
