Check out this great nTop application!
Today I’d like to share a “sharp” result generated by using generative design at ISCAR Headquarters. It's about a large diameter boring tool. The conventional design was replaced by a 3D printed part. The redesign resulted in a mass saving of 50% by making sure the deformation goals (included into the Topology Optimization problem formulation) have been met. They are very important to guarantee the precision of the tool. The lower weight provides a more convenient and safe handling and reduces loads and energy consumption of the CNC machine as well. Please join me to congratulate Minerva Ruiloba, Chen Balbes the whole ISCAR Headquarters Team for this great piece of work. Below you see the the tool "in action". #generativedesign #topologyoptimization #geometryreconstruction #bionicdesign #manufacturing #tooling #boringtool #designformanufacturing #leightweight #leightweightdesign #materialefficiency #dfam #designforadditivemanufacturing #additivemanufacturing #am #ntop

nTop CEO Bradley Rothenberg sat down for an interview with 3D Printing Industry recently to talk about the release of nTop 5, the value of AI for 3D printing, and more. From the article: "According to Rothenberg, 'nTop 5 marks a really important moment for us.' This is due to new core modeling technology, which offers improved precision and speed. Therefore, the software enables customers to 'iterate really fast and find the best possible design.' nTop also added five new software providers to its Core Developer Library. This includes Materialise Magics, Autodesk Fusion, cloudfluid, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence scSTREAM, and Intact Solutions, Inc., which now offer nTop 5 interoperability." Check out full the story below. ⬇

nTop 5 integrates with cloudfluid to help you perform CFD analysis on advanced heat exchanger and manifold designs. Through nTop Core, cloudfluid can import *.implicit models from nTop, set up the simulation on the model without meshing, and compute the results quickly using a cloud-based GPU solver–delivering significantly faster heat exchanger design workflow. In addition, custom blocks are available to set up and launch cloudfluid analysis directly from the nTop interface further streamlining the CFD workflow. This integration is currently in a technical preview period. Let's take a look at another big update in nTop 5: The nTop for Autodesk Fusion add-in. This add-in enables nTop users to perform downstream tasks and more easily complete the design-to-production workflow for advanced manufacturing processes. nTop users will be able to effortlessly import their designs into the CAD/CAM environment inside Fusion. You can then inspect models, integrate implicit models into larger product assemblies, and prepare models for production with advanced manufacturing toolsets. This is now available in the Autodesk App Store and can be used by current nTop and Autodesk Fusion customers, today. Exciting news for the additive manufacturing community! We're thrilled to announce that we've launched an Early Access Program with nTop, allowing organizations to benefit from our native nTop integrations with Magics. This integration is a game-changer for our customers, as it allows them to seamlessly import and 3D print implicit files directly from nTop. No more time-consuming meshing and slicing processes - the workflow is now streamlined and efficient. A great example is Wärtsilä, a global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets. They were able to redesign a massive engine cylinder head, reducing weight and consolidating multiple parts. However, the bottleneck was meshing the complex geometry. With the new nTop-Magics integration, Wärtsilä was able to export the part in seconds, open it in Magics in minutes, and have it sliced and ready for printing on their Nikon SLM NXG XII 600 3D printers in just a couple of hours. This level of speed and efficiency is a game-changer, empowering manufacturers to unlock the full potential of additive manufacturing. We're excited to see how our customers leverage this integration to drive innovation and boost their ROI.
