About us
Experiential learning, anchored by our world-renowned cooperative education program, is the heart of a Northeastern education. Starting in 1909, the College of Engineering was the first school at Northeastern to offer the co-op program. Today the university is ranked No. 1 in internships/co-ops by U.S. News and World Report. Co-op gives BS, MS, and PhD students an opportunity to work within their profession for four, six, or eight-month periods as part of their academic program, giving them real-world experience while helping to finance their education. Co-op positions are also available locally and globally and for industry and research positions. Co-op is also of high value to employers, providing them access to talented and innovative students to meet their workforce needs and business objectives.

Northeastern University is celebrating 115 Years of Cooperative Education this year! We kicked off the series of celebrations this week at our global campus in Arlington VA. Thanks to colleagues at our Arlington campus for hosting the inaugural event that brought together area alumni, employers, students, NU parents, faculty and staff! Amazing to connect with my engineering advisees now alums Alexander Schaps and Michael Lee, lunch and chat with current engineering graduate students, tour the campus with Tyler Leslie, and talk with so many proud alums, NU parents, and employers. Laura Meyer Director of MGEN Co-op & I loved representing our outstanding co-op team at this event, sporting our new 115th buttons "Ask Me About Co-op".
