The Norm Ai team had an incredible time meeting with clients and partners at Future Proof. There were more conversations than we could count, but wanted to share this recap posted by Mike Golaszewski, a financial services industry veteran who we had the pleasure of meeting at our booth. His post is definitely worth a read. It captures the excitement we're seeing across the industry about Norm Ai. Mike: "While generative AI was a common theme at this year’s hashtag #FutureProof conference, what really impressed me was Norm Ai’s application of the same tech to ease the burden of highly complex, distributed, and often manual compliance tasks. This is one piece of cutting-edge technology your CCO may want to embrace."

The introduction of Artificial Intelligence into our highly regulated space has understandably caused anxiety (and additional workloads) for our industry’s compliance specialists. However, one of the most practical AI applications I discovered at this year’s #FutureProof conference was specifically designed for Chief Compliance Officers. Tucked away in an unobtrusive corner of the show’s “boardwalk” was Norm Ai (https://www.norm.ai/) an AI-driven compliance and marketing solution that automates content regulatory checks and evidence substantiation—some of the most time-consuming and inefficient tasks at an RIA or a custodian. It was one of the few AI technologies at #FutureProof that genuinely excited me. Norm Ai built its regulatory engine by partnering with legal and compliance experts well-versed in SEC and FINRA rules and regulations. Essentially, their engine has consumed our regulatory environment line-by-line, processed and analyzed all of it, and can re-apply this expertise as a knowledgeable compliance agent. This legal expertise ensures that Norm Ai doesn’t just flag generic issues; it tailors its analysis to the specific financial regulations that affect RIAs. The platform automatically cross-checks marketing materials, communications, and even portfolio activities against current compliance standards, generating substantiated reports for regulatory reviews. It draws from a legal knowledge base that is continuously updated to reflect the latest regulatory changes, minimizing risks for advisors and firms by staying ahead of evolving regulations. How does it work? You provide Norm Ai’s chat agent with your proposed marketing documents or social media posts, and it returns a comprehensive compliance report that details flagged issues, relevant regulations, and suggested language changes to help you meet compliance standards. I was told it even assists with evidence substantiation, although I didn’t have enough time to explore the depth of its integration with third party data providers, including common RIA systems that many of us use or are familiar with. While generative AI was a common theme at this year’s #FutureProof conference, what really impressed me was Norm Ai’s application of the same tech to ease the burden of highly complex, distributed, and often manual compliance tasks. This is one piece of cutting-edge technology your CCO may want to embrace. (This is day two of my weeklong review of practical products and services I came across at last week’s #FutureProof conference…more tomorrow!)

Norm Ai Founder & CEO, John Nay, was interviewed at the NYSE about a 10-year vision for AI agents. There are two sides of the coin Judy Khan Shaw and John discussed here. One, using Norm Ai now to encode regulations into dynamic computational form to make compliance more efficient & effective. Two, as AI gets more advanced and deployed more broadly, also using Norm Ai to help enable the deployment of other AI agents. For instance, AI generating & serving marketing or AI communicating with clients. As that type of activity occurs in higher-stakes situations, companies can leverage Norm Ai to help assess proposed AI outputs with respect to relevant regulations.

Excited to release an interview of our CEO, John Nay, at the NYSE specifically about the team required to build & deploy Regulatory AI Agents and the software tooling required to empower them. Automating compliance processes to make them more efficient, cost-effective, and accurate while ensuring democratic guardrails for AI in increasingly autonomous roles requires a very interdisciplinary but also deeply specialized team. It requires Lawyers, AI Engineers, Ex-Regulators, Data Engineers, Legal Engineers, and Software Engineers. Every day, the highly multi-disciplinary Norm Ai team collaborates to turn nuanced analysis of ambiguous regulations into AI agents on the behalf of Chief Compliance Officers.
