On August 24/25, 2024, Norfolk Southern made its final RoadRailer run, an innovative service with unique equipment that helped pave the way for multimodal transportation, marking the end of nearly four decades of RoadRailer operations.   As we celebrate the legacy of RoadRailers and their impact on our customers, we now look to the future. With the launch of our new Triple Crown container service, we’re not just preserving the essence of what made RoadRailer successful — we’re enhancing it. This new service will expand our network, unlock capacity, and provide our customers with even greater value and efficiency.   Triple Crown has always represented more than just a mode of transport; it’s a commitment to growth and service excellence. As we transition, I want to thank everyone who has been a part of the RoadRailer journey. Four months before the next bargaining round, Norfolk Southern has reached tentative collective bargaining agreements with four of our labor unions, representing about 30% of our railroaders. The agreements, subject to ratification, will give covered employees unprecedented certainty about upcoming enhancements to their pay, health care, and vacation. Our railroaders are the heart and soul of NS, and we’re committed to continuing our work to improve quality of life and work experience for Team NS. Take a ride on the NS inspection train, aka the Office Car Special, as it rolls through Alabama! 🚂 This isn’t just a train— it’s our moving office, traveling across our 22-state network. Along the way, NS leaders inspect our infrastructure while engaging with our railroaders at each stop. This week, the Inspection train made its way through Alabama, visiting our teams in Saraland, Selma, and Birmingham. From over 75 tons of pens and pencils to 1,714 tons of books (that's equivalent to more than 1.1 million textbooks!), our railroaders deliver the essentials for the new school year. 🚂📚 Here’s a glimpse at a few more things we move for the classroom and beyond: 📝 School Supplies: Backpacks, binders, folders, loose-leaf paper, markers, crayons, glue sticks, and all the art supplies from paints to brushes. 💻 Tech Essentials: Computers, tablets, Smartboards, headphones, cell phones, and office tools. 🍎 In the Classroom: Desks (177 tons last year alone), bulletin boards, playground equipment, and musical instruments. We love to see the impact of our Safety First and Thriving Communities grants in communities across our 22-state network! Back the Heroes Rumble, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit, is dedicated to honoring and supporting our law enforcement officers, firefighters, military personnel, and their families. With their grant, they launched Operation Open Arms, which provides lifesaving equipment to first responders across Ohio:
