“I felt like I was living in a sports paradise. If you told me half of what I would do this summer, I wouldn’t believe it.” Kailynn Jackson was one of more than 200 students selected to represent the 2024 intern class at Nike, Jordan and Converse. Kailynn, a journalism major at the University of Oklahoma, spent 10 weeks at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., where she brought her talents to the Global Communications team. She’s familiar with mixing sport with her studies as a student-athlete on the OU track team, but says her intern experience at Nike was on another level. Maybe that's because our program’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that our interns are truly moving the company forward, lending their important skills to critical areas of the entire business. No brewing coffee or filing papers here. Instead, try morning runs, an interview with EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer Mo Matheson, collaborative capstone projects and a seat at the U.S. Track and Field Trials in Eugene, to name just a few of Kailynn’s summer highlights. The 2025 NIKE, Inc. internship application window is officially open now through October 7 for undergraduate students and December 2 for MBA and graduate students. Kailynn’s advice to anyone who’s thinking of applying: “Submit it,” she says. “Take the risk and just do it.” Apply for the 2025 cohort: https://lnkd.in/d-iK3aT #SwooshLife #NikeInternships

When Saskia Schuitmaker started at Nike in September of ’97, she worked with 20 employees on a modest single-floor layout in Hilversum — Nike’s European Headquarters, as it stands today, was just an inkling of an idea. Now, as Nike EHQ celebrates its 25th anniversary with over 3,000 teammates, the Nike EMEA executive assistant is still as inspired to come to work as the day she started.   Hear from Saskia and Miranda Zwiers-van Ek, another longstanding Nike EMEA employee, on what makes Nike’s EHQ so special. This September, Nike's European Logistics Campus (ELC) in Belgium marks a major milestone — 30 years of driving supply chain excellence, innovation and growth.   Spanning three municipalities, five distribution centers and a community of 7,000 passionate teammates, the ELC is powered by 100% renewable energy from five local sources, and is on track to becoming 100% fossil free by 2025.   Ann Vandesande, Senior Director of Distribution at Nike, has been part of the ELC's journey since Day One. "It's the people that make the difference," shares Ann, who's pictured below. She loves to start her day by connecting with teammates on the state-of-the-art campus before grabbing a healthy meal at one of our restaurants, and ending with a sporting activity together with her colleagues. "We're truly one team with an unparalleled passion, inspired by the relentless pursuit of greatness symbolizing our brand." “Nike doesn’t just show up to serve a market. We’re leaning into culture and doing it authentically.” That’s Camila Snider, Lead Resilience and Portfolio Manager at Nike and one of many teammates who attended L'ATTITUDE 2024, which took place last week in beautiful San Diego, California. The business conference highlights the economic influence of the nation’s Latino population, giving attendees the chance to connect with the broader Latino talent community. Nike’s presence at L’ATTITUDE made a big impression on Camila. As co-chair of Nike’s Latino and Friends Employee Network, she helps invite teammates across the company to engage with, learn from and better understand Latino culture. Showing up at L’ATTITUDE, she says, reflects the company’s values to be at the forefront of these community-led events and conferences. For Camila, one of the event’s highlights was hearing from Doug Bowles, Nike VP/GM of Nike LatAm, who was one of L’ATTITUDE’s keynote speakers. Bowles used the brand’s recent marathon campaign in Mexico City as a case study for Nike’s investment to serve runners across Latin America. “When he was talking about the energy and excitement around running in Mexico City, I got chills,” says Camila. “It made me feel so inspired and connected to the brand. It’s one reason why I say with pride and joy that I’m a Nike employee — We get to authentically serve markets all over the world.” Learn more about our employee networks at https://lnkd.in/dpWnGc33 #SwooshLife #JustDoIt #LATTITUDE2024

Jordan Brand’s latest footwear release, the Air Jordan V El Grito, pays homage to rich Mexican culture through nods to its streets, colors, textures and people — representing Mexican identity and pride both at home and around the world. The brand achieved that authenticity by having teammates with direct connections to the culture help lead the design. “Growing up I had a strong connection to my Mexican roots, and particularly my Oaxacan roots — I would travel with my Familia back to Oaxaca often,” says Jaime Rojas, Lead Designer, Men’s Lifestyle, who helped the Jordan team craft the shoe’s overall story and creative direction from the start. “I got to experience the beautiful traditions, craft and culture of Mexico, and all these things shaped me as a person and designer. I wanted this shoe to authentically capture those elements that represent Mexico and the things that makes us proud of being Mexican.” That sentiment is brought through in Rojas’s favorite design element of the El Grito — the embossed details you see throughout the shoe. “The details make this Jordan V unique to Mexico and make it a beautifully crafted shoe — and the first retro inspired by the country! I feel such pride in saying that. It’s a moment that can only happen at this company, where you get to merge craft, sport and culture in iconic shoes, and connect and collaborate with talented and passionate people to bring amazing projects like this to life.” Learn more about the Air Jordan V El Grito: https://lnkd.in/gr4fFvNv #AirJordan #JordanBrand #Design

Growing up in a single-parent, immigrant household, Zainee Gafoor didn’t have access to a lot of sport- and play-based programs, or the lifelong benefits she knows would have come along with them.     Now, as a mom of two young kids and a Retail Operations Manager supporting Nike-owned stores throughout Canada, she’s determined to help expand sport for the next generation and give all kids, including her own, an opportunity to play.    “If we think about our mission statement of bringing inspiration and innovation to every athlete, that has to include the young and emerging athletes, and it has to include young and emerging athletes who are underserved,” says Zainee, a 13-year Nike employee, who also serves on the leadership committee for Nike’s ASCEND Network.    So when the opportunity to join Toronto’s Nike Community Impact Fund (NCIF) Employee Grant Selection Committee arose, Zainee jumped at the chance. The NCIF program trains each committee member on how to assess grant applications, so they can then share their local insights to decide which community organizations should receive funding.    “Just knowing we can make a real impact on our community as individuals and as an organization is so rewarding,” says Zainee. “And being part of the NCIF grant selection process allowed me to learn about different local organizations and the work they do.”     One that really stood out to her was Trails Youth Initiatives, which was ultimately selected for a grant. “I like that it brings kids to outdoor spaces, opening them up to experiences in nature like hiking or snowshoeing — and showing them that there’s so much more out in the world to see.”    Check out our most recent NCIF grant recipients in Toronto and across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan: https://lnkd.in/eFqiD3YV #JustDoIt #SwooshLife #NikeCommunityImpactFund
