We are grateful to be able to share stories from incredible patient advocates like Savannah Cooper. Savannah was gracious enough to share her experience learning to be independent with home infusion while pursuing and achieving her dream to be a professional musical theater performer in New York City in both written and video formats. As a person who relies on regular IV antibiotics to fight chronic infection, Savannah learned how to become the best person to administer her own therapy, and her home infusion provider supported her by ensuring access to medication and supplies whether she was at home, at college, or traveling for performances. Savannah's Story: https://loom.ly/ziM4yFQ Please reach out to us if you have patients with stories to share!

National Home Infusion Association reposted this
This is a strong survey from the American Medical Association about the impacts of over reliance on prior authorizations by payors. These findings are consistent with what we hear from National Home Infusion Association members who must often obtain double authorization to provide home infusion - one for the drug and another for nursing visits. This is why #NHIA called for eliminating all PA requirements for home infusion nursing in our last commercial payor recommendations. While there may be some argument for PA to approve drugs that costs thousands of dollars per dose, what is the rationale for scrutinizing nursing visits where most providers are paid well below the actual cost of providing the visit? Commercial payors should remove these onerous requirements that do nothing but delay the care that is likely keeping patients out of emergency rooms and hospitals. #infusion #homeinfusion https://lnkd.in/gE33u8yq
