On behalf of New Bedford Research and Robotics, we’d like to congratulate Xander Faria for placing 2nd at the New England Regional Business Plan competition held in Boston, MA. On Tuesday, June 4th, Xander competed against student finalists throughout the New England region, presenting highly competitive and innovative business plan ideas. His business idea, Radiant Arise, distinguished itself, earning 2nd place among all finalists and qualifying him for the National Business Plan competition in New York City this October. At 9:30 pm, Xander texted Matt Paknis, FRSA, "I got second place! I am going to New York!" In preparation, Xander worked closely with Matt, our Community Lead at NBRR, who also teaches an advanced design, manufacturing, and robotics class at New Bedford High School. In his class and while working with Xander, Matt provided startup coaching, focusing on entrepreneurship, pitching, presentation, and soft skills related to technology. Xander was a delight to work with, demonstrating both willingness and ability. His dedication has made the NAF Academy of Finance proud and represented New Bedford High School and NBRR to the highest of standards. As a member of the class of 2025, Xander is currently enrolled in the Entrepreneurship class in the Academy of Finance. We are excited to see his continued success and innovation. Congratulations, Xander! Good luck in New York in October!
