About us

Neurosteer has developed a solution for the early detection and more effective treatment of a variety of neurological disorders. It consists of a medical-grade wearable device and cloud-based system that provides real-time monitoring and assessment of brain activity. The company’s current focus is on delivering objective biomarkers that identify the early onset of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia and epilepsy. Neurosteer uses an adhesive forehead strip connected to a pocket-sized device that wirelessly transmits sensor data to the cloud for proprietary signal processing. Advanced algorithms then decompose the single EEG channel into 100 individual components for real-time analysis and display on a Web-based dashboard. The result is more affordable screening, continuous patient monitoring, and optimized neurostimulation and drug selection, leading to improved neurological treatment and outcome of clinical trials.

🌟 Have you ever seen a scientific experiment at a music festival? 🌟 This is exactly what we did at the Lithuanian Song Celebration! 🇱🇹🎶 In collaboration with Neurosteer and Indre Viskontas, we, Talya Zeimer and I, set up a tent in the heart of the festival’s beautiful park, and conducted mobile EEG brain examinations on 160 participants. Each underwent a 20-minute experiment, with musical tests designed to either challenge or relax frontal brain regions’ functionality. Our goal? To analyze their response to music, and explore correlations between age and engagement. As neurodegenerative disease cases rise, understanding the impact of music on brain function, especially in older adults, is crucial. Music engagement, particularly in social settings, may enhance frontal lobe function, which is critical for executive function and emotional regulation, while reducing stress. This 100th anniversary festival provided a unique and vibrant backdrop for our groundbreaking study. Thank you Dr. Ramunė Dirvanskienė for the invitation to this unique opportunity. Join us as we explore the fascinating intersection of neuroscience and music! 🎵🧠 #Neuroscience #MusicFestival #LithuanianSongFestival #MentalHealth #Neurosteer #EEG #BrainHealth #ScientificResearch

Music has multiple effects on the brain: calming, focusing, and exciting to name a few. Music can also facilitate brain assessment as we do in Neurosteer. Neta and Indre have demonstrated this beautifully with the New World Sympathy.

Imagine a conductor's brainwaves seamlessly synchronizing with a cellist's and a listener's during a musical performance. This isn't science fiction—it's the reality captured by Neurosteer, featuring its new real-time neurofeedback technology. During the New World Symphony’s "By Ear, A Journey into Musical Perception" special concert in Miami Beach on March 21st, Neurosteer displayed the real-time brain activity of conductor Edwin Outwater, cellist Sarah, and Professor Indre Viskontas: a music neuroscientist who provided insights into how the brain engages with music throughout the concert, and invited us to participate in this fascinating exploration. The video revealed how three brain activity networks: default mode/resting state (blue), the executive control (green), and the salience/emotional network (red), achieved near-perfect synchronization by the piece's end. This real-time feedback is particularly valuable when brain network activity becomes disrupted, as in cases of anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and neurodegeneration. Neurofeedback can then be used for diagnosis and training to help individuals regain control and improve their ability to switch between networks effectively during daily life. My deepest appreciation to Indre Viskontas, New World Symphony and Edwin Outwater for allowing me to participate in this wonderful concert, and letting the audience have a peek into musicians’ mind with Neurosteer.

We're thrilled to announce the publication of our groundbreaking paper in Frontiers Neurology, Movement Disorders, detailing a revolutionary approach to Parkinson's disease detection and differentiation using a miniature EEG and a rapid 15-minute assessment. Preliminary data suggests similar promise for Alzheimer’s disease, making it ideal for patient screening to benefit from recent Alzheimer’s drugs.  #neurodegenerative #parkinson #alzheimer

Biogen's Decision to Dissolve Digital Health Division: Unpacking the Implications Biogen recently disbanded their digital health division, a notable 150-member team, choosing instead to lean into external technological solutions to drive their objectives forward. This development comes as a surprise, especially when considering Biogen's recent clearance for Leqembi, a novel drug poised to address early-stage Alzheimer’s by decelerating its progression. The now-disbanded digital health group had the mandate to innovate affordable diagnostic means to identify potential Alzheimer's patients who might benefit from Leqembi. Given Biogen's newly FDA-approved drug (a rare victory in the challenging landscape of neurodegenerative treatments), shuttering this division makes a significant statement. It suggests Biogen's recalibration of faith in digital health solutions, intimating a pivot toward exploring alternative diagnostic technologies. Ideal technology for early-stage Alzheimer's detection must satisfy three pivotal criteria: Affordability & Scalability: It must be cost-effective and capable of wide deployment. Proactive Identification: Capable of detecting potential Alzheimer’s at its latent, pre-symptomatic stages. Precise Diagnosis: Ensure accurate identification of Alzheimer’s. It's imperative, considering that nearly 40% of dementia cases are attributed to vascular, fronto-temporal, Lewy Body an other forms of dementia. Leqembi is specifically formulated for Alzheimer’s patients. Of note, a recently sanctioned blood test, which determines Alzheimer's risk based on an amyloid ratio, is restricted to patients already manifesting cognitive decline symptoms. It is not used in the critical early, pre-symptomatic phase. While this move might seem like a setback for the digital health realm, it potentially heralds a promising era for direct brain-analysis technologies, aimed at early detection and precise differentiation of Alzheimer’s. At Neurosteer, we're working diligently on tools that may help distinguish between different neurodegenerative disorders. Details about our ongoing research can be found in this preprint https://lnkd.in/dXNtME6k. #biogen #EEG #Neurosteer #Alzheimer's
