#Voter engagement and #publichealth are inextricably linked. Policies like automatic and same-day registration, non-strict voter ID requirements, felon re-enfranchisement and mail-in voting options lead to higher levels of voter participation and stronger public health outcomes. The Network partnered with Healthy Democracy Healthy People on the Health & Democracy Index, which shows that states with more inclusive voting policies and greater levels of civic participation are healthier. With one month to go until the election, it's a good time to revisit the complete analysis, comparing 12 public health indicators and voter turnout to the restrictiveness of voting policies in each state. 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g3TrVvWH

Many states place restrictions on cannabis advertising because of the potential harms cannabis use poses to youth. Courts are divided as to whether such restrictions violate a business’s First Amendment rights to engage in commercial speech. Our latest fact sheet by the Network's Senior Advisor, Eastern Region Mathew Swinburne, J.D., and co-authors Halina Bereday, J.D., and Emily Schwartz, J.D., details how, depending on the scope and characteristics of a state’s advertising policy, cannabis advertising can be constitutionally restricted in order to protect children’s health. 🔗 Explore the factsheet, here: https://lnkd.in/eJyHQQ42
