🙌 As part of the Racial Equity in Adult Credentialing in Higher Education (REACH) project, teams from Central Piedmont Community College, Gaston College, Nash Community College, and Roanoke-Chowan Community College took part in a workshop focused on "Culturally Sustaining Practices for Inclusive Excellence." 💫 The event took place last month at Gaston College and brought together educators, administrators, and thought leaders to explore and address the challenges of fostering culturally sustaining environments in educational institutions. Mark Phillips partnered with Greenville-based Thermo Fisher Scientific to make it happen, launching a pilot program in 2019. The program enables high school graduates to participate in two and a half days of pharmaceutical manufacturing training at the NC Pharmaceutical Services Network at Pitt Community College. “Four years into the program, we’ve had 24 of these young high school students hired, and of those 24, 21 are still working at Thermo Fisher Scientific,” Phillips said. ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/eHENtSTQ
