The hospital is recognized as one of Soliant’s Most Beautiful Hospitals in the USA. The recognition sheds light on the hard work hospitals put into creating warm and healing environments.        Beautiful inside and out, the hospital is a resilient 11-story safety net facility designed to withstand a 500-year flood event. As construction progresses on our Oasis Central Sudirman mixed-use project in Jakarta, Indonesia, we’re excited to share a peek at the marketing pavilion, which welcomes potential residents and office tenants on site.     NBBJ collaborated with Japanese interior design firm SuperPotato Studio on the building, which the client, PT. For decades, Bunker Hill CC—the largest community college in Massachusetts—was challenged with overcrowded, aging spaces. A new building, the Academic Student Success Center, and renovations to existing buildings, expand space for advising and collaboration while enhancing the on-campus experience for the college’s 19,000 students.    The Academic Student Success Center reinvigorates the campus with a modern, centralized student services suite and collaboration spaces, including student lounges, financial services and a library/learning commons. A large, central courtyard is the focal point of the building, providing views, daylight and connection to nature. Designed to be Net Zero Ready, the building also has a high efficiency ground source heat pump and accommodation for a future PV array.     #highered #nbbjdesign

According to the California Hospital Association, 44 of California’s 58 counties lack child or adolescent psychiatric beds. While this crisis is not exclusive to California—or even the US—behavioral health facilities focused on children and adolescents, like Montage Health's Ohana Campus in Monterey, CA, lead the charge to address the mental health epidemic amongst kids and teens.     Informed by neuroscience research from NBBJ Fellow and developmental molecular biologist Dr. John Medina, Ohana prioritizes the importance of nature in modern healthcare, with fresh air, daylight, greenery and organic forms and materials to lower stress and encourage movement. What’s more “fab” than regular construction? “Prefab” construction! 🏗 At the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, an NBBJ-led team paired a standards-based approach with prefabrication and bulk purchasing to successfully mitigate over $100M of cost escalation exposure. The project is over 60% prefabricated, including headwalls and toilet pods in each of the 448 private patient rooms. Currently under construction, the 12-story building will also include a new, flexible OR/interventional platform and imaging modalities supporting trauma, cardiac and neuro service lines; a new emergency department; and space supporting medical education and conferencing.
