Despite a close brush with Hurricane Helene, our #NIWCAtlantic engineers and scientists returned from a weeklong at-sea experiment in Key West, FL! The experiment what was a highly successful Hybrid Fleet Campaign 2024 (HFC24) event. Sponsored by the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet, the experiment took place in Key West Harbor both ashore and aboard the expeditionary fast transport USNS Burlington (T-EPF-10). During HFC24, NIWC Atlantic assessed how emerging communications capabilities could integrate with unmanned air/surface/underwater systems in a future hybrid fleet. Vice Adm. Alvin Holsey, United States Southern Command military deputy commander, visited the USNS Burlington to engage with technology owners from government and industry who had spent a week experimenting. The hybrid fleet is a Joint #Warfighting Concept and strategic naval objective designed to deter and defeat any enemy through the integration and scaling of unmanned platforms to the fleet level. Our team at #NIWCAtlantic is hard at work, advancing critical command, control, and communications (C3) capabilities. Last month, Commanding Officer Matt O'Neal observed lab testing led by our Expeditionary C3 Solutions (EC3S) Division! They were preparing for their month-long deployment to Bold Quest Island Marauder (BQIM) at Camp Lejeune. Engineers, technologists, and service members tested key technologies like the Joint Battle Command – Post (JBC-P) and the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Common Handheld. Together, we’re ensuring interoperability of Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) systems to empower our warfighters. #InnovationInAction #Teamwork #WarfighterTech

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re featuring employees from the 1NAVWAR enterprise all month long! Meet Henry A. Martinez II, a third-generation Hispanic American. As a Share Modernization Integration Platform Manager (IPM) for Broadcast Authority (BCA) and Circuit Manager for PEO C4I PMW 770 Shore Modernization, Martinez reviews all installations and ensures that all administrative documents are in place before programs of record proceed with installation at the site. His proudest career accomplishment is retiring from the United States Navy after 32 years. He was also the recipient the AFCEA Copernicus Award in 2008 for his outstanding contributions to naval warfare in C4I/IT1. Additionally, Martinez is deeply involved in his community, co-founding the Honor Our Veterans Parade in Chula Vista and serving as the President of the San Diego chapter of the Association of Naval Service Officers. He is also the chair of NAVWAR’s Hispanic Employment Program, a special emphasis group that promotes diversity and puts on enterprise-wide events that celebrate Hispanic culture.
