Hoping to rent an electric vehicle from the airport to take your family to see the Grand Canyon or to Acadia this summer? With funding from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Vehicle Technologies Office, the NREL-led Athena ZEV project is developing tools to help airports electrify their operations and predict energy demand. We are testing things out at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in order to apply the models to all US airports. Spoiler alert: The future of floating photovoltaics in the United States looks bright! 🔆 Floating solar systems offer exciting potential, especially where ground-mounted solar isn’t feasible. A new NREL report explores how floating solar systems can be co-located, and even integrated with, new or existing hydroelectric and pumped storage hydropower facilities. This allows the two types of electricity generation to share infrastructure, which reduces costs and improves energy production. Read more > https://lnkd.in/gDfsiRNN

On June 3, NREL’s Full Spectrum Network Employee Resource Group hosted a Progress Pride flag-raising ceremony at our South Table Mountain campus. This marked the third year of proudly raising the flag at STM, and, the following day, the flag was raised at our Flatirons Campus for the very first time. 🌈 Pride Month isn't just about celebration; it's also a time for reflection and advocacy. As one attendee said, "It's really important not to forget that the reason we have Pride Month every year is to keep fighting for our rights and to not let progress slip backwards."
