A note from our CEO Victor Stagnaro. We hope to see many of you in St. Louis!
It has been 20 years since more than 200 fire service leaders met in Tampa for the first Firefighter Life Safety Summit. It was noted in the summit report at that time that many discussion points were viewed as radical changes for the fire service. Among these novel ideas were a national fire service research agenda, refusing to accept firefighter deaths as a normal part of life, integrating incident command systems into operations, empowering firefighters to speak up against unsafe practices, and the value of collecting data. Just think about that – all of these ground-breaking ideas are now considered standard operating procedures across the US fire service. While so much has changed in the past 20 years regarding firefighter health and safety, one thing remains the same—with the right people in the conversation, radical ideas become the roadmap for the future. As we prepare for the 2024 Firefighter Life Safety Summit in St. Louis next month, we want the next generation of fire service leaders to have a voice in shaping their future. A multigenerational approach is crucial to ensuring that the radical ideas of today will seem ordinary in another 20 years. I look forward to seeing you in St. Louis. https://lnkd.in/eHqwT8i8
