📊The data are in, again, and they point to more challenges for the nonprofit workforce. Two new reports reinforce much of what the National Council of Nonprofits saw in our 2023 survey tracking the Nonprofit Workforce Shortage Crisis. The Fed Communities’ “Community Perspectives” survey reported: 🔹Only about 1/3 of responding nonprofits reporting being able to meet most or all of the demand for their services. 🔹41.4% of the nonprofit organizations with “some” or “a lot” of stress around their finances. Read the full report: https://bit.ly/4eiOOs9 The Independent Sector and United for ALICE released their, “ALICE in the Nonprofit Workforce: A Study of Financial Hardship” study which reported: 🔹5% of nonprofit workers’ income being below the U.S. poverty level. 🔹15% of nonprofit workers’ earning being insufficient for the counties they live in. Charitable nonprofits are celebrating the best October surprise ever: an updated version of the Uniform Guidance from the Office of Management and Budget going into effect today. The reforms streamline the federal grant process and reduce the financial and administrative burdens for nonprofits hired to deliver critical services to communities by the federal government. The NC Center for Nonprofits extends our heartfelt support to the communities impacted by the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. At this time, we defer to the critical work of emergency responders and encourage all affected to prioritize safety and follow the guidance of local authorities. Those who are able to donate can contribute to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, managed by our friends at United Way of North Carolina: nc.gov/donate. We will continue to share more resources in the coming days and weeks. Thank you to all the first responders for your dedicated service. We stand ready to support the nonprofit organizations that will act as second responders in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

As South Carolina faces yet another devastating storm, memories of past disasters like the storms and floods of 2015, 2016, 2018, and even Hurricane Hugo in 1989, come rushing back. During times like these, we in the nonprofit sector ask ourselves, “How can we help?” Together, we are Allies For Good. Collaboration has always been our strength, and now more than ever, it’s crucial that we come together to respond effectively. Your team at Together SC is actively working with philanthropic and government partners across the state, and over the coming days and weeks, we are seeking out and listening for ways in which South Carolina’s nonprofits can seek and give aid to serve their communities, as Federal, State, and private disaster response funds become available. Our focus is on directing resources where they are needed most. On our blog, you’ll find important information and resources to assist you as we navigate recovery efforts. We will keep this page updated with new developments. https://lnkd.in/eHgj9DvZ Link in bio
