Another productive day for the NASDA policy team! NASDA Associate Director Becky Garrison Warfel, RDN, LD shares more about the USDA meeting she participated in today.
We had a wonderful meeting with USDA Food and Nutrition Services this morning, discussing K-12 school meals and child nutrition programs. 🚜🍉🧀🫘🌱 On behalf of NASDA - National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, we discussed ways to enhance collaboration between federal and state departments of agriculture to boost #local and #regional food #procurement, while also reducing administrative burdens for program providers and directors. A big thank you to Cindy Long, Farrah Freis Buff, and Melissa Rothstein for hosting us and for their invaluable insights and commitment to these meaningful nutrition programs. Lastly, thanks to Brandon Lipps and the team at Caprock Strategies for leading the #HealthyFoodHappyKids coalition. #USDA #FNS #schoolmeals #childnutrition #foodsystems #agriculture #farmtoschool
