NAMI PHILADELPHIA is an affiliate of The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI PHILADELPHIA offers a monthly support group, connections to services that aid and assists in recovery, and community integration. NAMI PHILADELPHIA assists family members with a Family-To- Family course. The NAMI PHILADELPHIA office offers a safe space to visit and talk with a knowledgeable affiliate member. NAMI PHILADELPHIA is closely associated with The Department of Mental Health, Mental Health Association, Family Resource Network, Family Inclusion and Community Integrated Services. What we do: NAMI relies on gifts and contributions to support our important work: We educate. Offered in thousands of communities across the United States through NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates, our education programs ensure hundreds of thousands of families, individuals and educators get the support and information they need. We advocate. NAMI shapes national public policy for people with mental illness and their families and provides volunteer leaders with the tools, resources and skills necessary to save mental health in all states. We listen. Our toll-free NAMI HelpLine allows us to respond personally to hundreds of thousands of requests each year, providing free referral, information and support—a much-needed lifeline for many. 800-950-6264 IN A CRISIS? Attention NAMI Family to Family and NAMI Peer to Peer Trained Trainers: NAMI Philly is seeking dedicated volunteer NAMI Family-to-Family (F2F) and NAMI Peer-to-Peer (P2P) trainers to lead our free, eight-session educational courses during the upcoming 2024-2025 program schedule. Both F2F and P2P programs are recognized as evidence-based by SAMHSA.These courses aim to enhance understanding of mental health conditions, improve coping mechanisms, and empower participants to advocate for themselves and their loved ones. Engaging Parents and Increasing Connections with Children (EPICC) is a program focused on helping parents with serious mental illnesses connect with their children through meaningful activities. If you are eligible to participate, you will be asked to complete 3 research interviews, which will take approximately 90 minutes each. In appreciation of your time, you will receive a $20 gift card for each interview completed. You will also be enrolled in an online program to support you with ideas and problem-solving to help you connect with your child. The program has 1-1 phone calls or video meetings with a recreational therapist every other week, and a video support group every other week. You will also receive informational videos. You may be enrolled right away, or you may have to wait 10 weeks to participate in the program.
