I'm grateful for Nicolas Esteves and Nicolai Eddy who I have had the privilege of building NALA with the past 4 years, they have put their life into building this company with me with countless late nights, weekends constantly trying to execute on our bold mission to build payments for the next billion! Last week at our Company Offsite in Zanzibar, I had the honour of receiving an Exceptional Contribution Award for our Payment Operations Team. This was a heartfelt moment filled with gratitude for those positively impacted by my work and collaboration 🙏🏽 A special shoutout to Gloria Gechemba who has been with me from the beginning of this journey and teaching me the ropes around payments, which wasn't my specialty before joining the team. I would also like to shout out Shamte Daudi - a great leader and mentor who has taught me how to set the bar 🙌🏽 I look forward to contributing to the growth and expansion of both NALA and our B2B product RAFIKI as we work to create payment rails for the next billion 💪🏼 We've barely started, there's more work to be done. It's now time to cook! 🧑🍳 #TimeToCook #1PercentBuilt #TheNextBillion #NALA

NALA just signed a strategic partnership with NCBA Group. This partnership will enhance cross-border payments, enabling faster, safer, and more affordable money transfers across Africa. Nicolai Eddy, our Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the importance of this partnership in enhancing the remittance experience for Kenyans globally and aligning with the Kenyan government’s financial goals. Also representing NALA was Obunde Francis Odhiambo from our Fincrime and Compliance team, and Minnie Kaburu from our Partnerships and Expansion team, both of whom brought this partnership to fruition. At the signing, NCBA was represented by Isaac Owilla, Ag. Group Director Technology and Operations, Charles Omondi Ag, Group Director Corporate Banking, and Sally Chege Head, Transactional Banking. With NCBA as NALA’s settlement bank in Kenya, this collaboration strengthens our financial ecosystem, enabling seamless foreign exchange for last-mile settlements via mobile money and banks. #1PercentBuilt #TheNextBillion #NCBATwendeMbele #GoForIt

#CampNALA24 IOS: https://lnkd.in/eDF-438T

Last week, we received our IMTO licence from the Bank of Uganda 🎊 🇺🇬 The IMTO license will enable us to integrate directly with mobile money services and enable users to conveniently pay into local mobile wallets, empowering us to deliver more efficient and secure cross-border payments to individuals and businesses. "From what we see at NALA through our Rafiki API and the data from the Bank of Uganda, a lot of remittances go towards basic needs like education, medical care, and other household expenses. While the process of remitting money has improved, there's still more to do to make sure these remittances keep supporting people's lives effectively. We've worked closely with the Bank of Uganda to meet all the requirements, which will help us make remittances more accessible for everyone. Plus, with this license, we will boost the supply of foreign exchange in Uganda, which is critical for economic growth.” NALA COO, Nicolai Eddy. This new licence aligns with our commitment to fostering financial inclusion and supporting both the country and the region's economic growth. 🌍 Combined with our recent $40 million Series A funding, this represents a big step forward for us as NALA. Through our new API RAFIKI, sending and receiving money will now be more accessible and more efficient, which is crucial for many families in Uganda. 🇺🇬 🩵 #1PercentBuilt #TheNextBillion
