It's hard to believe it's been a month since we all got together for #NACE24! While we're definitely looking forward to seeing everyone again next year, we aren't quite ready to close the book on our adventures in Phoenix! P.S. If you see someone you know, make sure you tag them!

Recently had the privilege of facilitating the National Association of Colleges and Employers Management Leadership Institute in Chicago. The week-long event gathered 90 career services professionals and 12 faculty/facilitators to explore essential leadership trends, insights, competencies, and dynamics. It was truly inspiring to be among such a talented and generous group of professionals! #LeadershipDevelopment #Networking #ProfessionalGrowth

On this #NationalInternDay, here’s a scoop from our forthcoming student survey results: Graduating Seniors said their internship experiences helped them gain and enhance important competencies—the TOP four are communication, professionalism, teamwork, and critical thinking. These also happen to be the very competencies employers say are most important in potential job candidates! This is further proof of the value of internships to BOTH students and employers. Internships are invaluable in their ability to help students develop the skills and competencies we need for a successful workforce. What is also telling? The competencies/skills that students aren’t learning/enhancing during their internships. Take for example AI skills. This is an area that colleges and employers can work together to successfully prepare the next generation of the workforce. Thanks @ Yello.co and WayUp for starting National Intern day! #internships #earlytalent #futureworkforce #careerdevelopment

For most college students, an internship is the most important step they can take as an undergrad to prepare for entering the workforce after graduating. Our research has shown over and over that internships lead to increased skills, expanded professional networks, and enhanced social capital. This is especially true of paid internships, which allow students to complete professional tasks and gain real-world experience. With this in mind, NACE encourages employers to pay their interns and encourages legislators to work to provide support for employers in converting unpaid internships to paid internships. https://lnkd.in/g-FwE2s8 #NationalInternDay

Today was a huge professional honor to teach at the National Association of Colleges and Employers Management Leadership Institute (MLI). We covered “Ethical Issues in Career Center Management” which started out with responses like “yawn,” “dry,” and “nap time” and ended with “complex,” “important,” and my favorite: “It’s not as boring as I thought” Ten years ago (!) when sitting at MLI, I could not have imagined that I would have been facilitating this session. Thanks to all of the participants in MLI 2024 for your contributions, and shout out to my MLI 2014 classmates! #NACE #EthicsIsFun
