October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, a crucial time to highlight the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for everyone. Initially declared in 2006, this month serves as a reminder of the devastating impacts bullying can have on children and families, including increased anxiety, depression, and school avoidance. Bullying takes many forms, including verbal, physical, and online (cyberbullying), and its consequences are far-reaching. According to a 2022 Pew Research Center survey, nearly half of U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 reported experiencing cyberbullying. At NABITA (National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment), ATIXA (Association of Title IX Administrators), and TNG Consulting, we are committed to fostering environments where bullying is not tolerated. We encourage educational institutions and workplaces to evaluate their anti-bullying policies and promote a culture of kindness, inclusivity, and respect.
