📺 Watch Reuters’ latest feature on MycoWorks and our groundbreaking Fine Mycelium™ materials platform! CEO Matt Scullin shares insights on the leather industry and the growing demand for sustainable new materials, on Reuters DISRUPTED: “Leather has a limited supply chain. It cannot be scaled up independently of the beef and dairy industry. So as the luxury industry has grown, and as leather consumption has grown overall, there has arrived the need for new materials. And these new materials can’t just be plastic. Consumers have made their intentions clear about plastic. These new materials need to be natural. What Fine Mycelium™ represents is the future of how to manufacture soft goods.” See more at https://lnkd.in/gqZ-2tMD

What a great opportunity to speak at the The Nest Climate Campus during #climateweek in NYC with Crystal Windham and Kathi Walker from General Motors. The key takeaway from our conversation was that designers and material innovators need to collaborate at the early stages product development. And above all, we need to build sustainable products that do not compromise quality and performance. MycoWorks #growthefuture

“MycoWorks transforms humble ingredients like sawdust, bran, water and mycelium into leather-like textiles … A life cycle assessment last year found the company’s products had one of the lowest carbon footprints among luxury materials.” The Washington Post features MycoWorks in its exploration of the growing usage of mycelium to bring sustainability to different industries. “Reishi™ would not feel as soft, full, and emotional as it does without the expertise and heritage of those leather masters that embarked on our journey with us.” – Frederick Martel, Senior VP of Sales. We were thrilled to introduce Reishi™ at Lineapelle Milan with our largest trade show exhibit yet. It was an incredible opportunity for our sales team to share a new category of luxury-grade, non-animal material with thousands of buyers across industries seeking sustainable biomaterials at commercial scale. We hope you were able to connect with us in Milan! Stay tuned for more events this year in Europe and the United States to experience Reishi™ in person. Contact [email protected] for inquiries.

For architect & designer Sophie Dries, Reishi™ is a material that has already lived many lives. Inspired by sheets featuring natural mottling and streaks, Sophie is creating a large brutalist mirror conceived of Reishi™ and Corten tubes – a self-patinated metal much used in Land Art – that balances the delicate, radical, and primitive nature of both materials.
