📢 Exciting News: MSP4BIO Deliverable D3.3 has just been published! 🌊 🙌🏻We are thrilled to announce the release of an important document for #MSP4BIO - "Guidance for Building Climate Change Scenarios for Protection Strategies." 👉🏻This comprehensive guide is designed to empower Marine Protected Area (#MPA) #managers and #palnners with the tools they need to navigate the increasing challenges posed by climate change. 👉🏻#MPAs play a critical role in conserving marine ecosystems, safeguarding biodiversity, and supporting nearby artisanal fisheries, thus bolstering marine economies and job provisions. However, the escalating impacts of climate change are adding significant pressures on MPA effectiveness. Changes such as warming, acidification, deoxygenation, salinity shifts, circulation alterations, and sea level rise are profoundly affecting all aspects of marine life. 📘 About the Guidance: Our new guidance offers an innovative framework to assess the vulnerability of marine species and ecosystems to climate stressors. Understanding this vulnerability is crucial for climate-smart management because the responses of marine organisms and ecosystems to climate-induced changes are complex and multifaceted. 🎯Key highlights of the guidance include: -Assessment of Vulnerabilities: Evaluate the sensitivity, resistance, and adaptivity of marine species to single or combined climate stressors. - Framework for #MPA Managers and Modelers: Practical tools to assess and prioritize vulnerabilities related to species and areas of interest. - Comprehensive and Versatile: Designed to be user-friendly, adaptable, and easy to apply for anyone involved in marine conservation. - Bottom-Up Approach: Starts with management concerns, proceeds with vulnerability assessments, and concludes with actionable prioritization criteria. By utilizing this guidance, #MPAManagers can make informed #decisions that enhance the #resilience and #sustainability of marine ecosystems in the face of climate change. 👉🏻🤿 Dive into the future of marine conservation with this essential resource and join us in protecting our precious marine environments! 🔗 Download the full guidance here: https://lnkd.in/dvgXc6Vg #MarineConservation #ClimateChange #MPA #MSP4BIO #Sustainability #Biodiversity #EcosystemProtection #ClimateSmartManagement Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) - Suomen ympäristökeskus (Syke) HELCOM - Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission s.Pro – sustainable projects GmbH CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency CIMA Research Foundation European Research Executive Agency (REA)
