About us

A lot of companies say they’re “mission-driven.” Our unique corporate structure guarantees that every decision we make upholds our mission: to ensure the internet remains open and accessible. Beholden to neither shareholders nor investors, Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the not-for-profit Mozilla Foundation. Along with our communities of 20,000 contributors and collaborators, Mozilla Corporation’s staff designs, builds, and distributes software that allows people to enjoy the internet on their own terms. Our flagship product — the Firefox browser — has expanded into a family of products that protects users and alerts them of risks, safeguards passwords and provides a secure VPN (with more to come). By maintaining a safe, open internet we're helping humanity, while also helping the individual humans employed here to reach their personal and professional goals. With a relatively small team serving hundreds of millions of people, a culture of exploration, and a commitment to mentorship, opportunities abound to learn and grow at Mozilla.

🚀 A New Era for Mozilla 🚀 I'm celebrating an exciting milestone for Mozilla as we unveil a fresh, modernized brand identity that stays true to our roots. With a revamped logo, bold new colors, and a more accessible voice, we’ve designed a brand that better reflects who we are today—innovative, inclusive, and focused on the future of the open web. But this refresh is about more than just aesthetics. It’s about reaffirming our mission to create a more trustworthy internet, while evolving to meet the needs of a rapidly changing digital landscape. We wanted to stay connected to the heart of Mozilla—the values and purpose that have always defined us—while ensuring our brand feels more approachable to a new generation of users. Refreshing an iconic brand can be tricky, and my biggest piece of advice is to first take a deep dive into your core purpose. What made your brand iconic in the first place? Don’t lose sight of that. A successful refresh is one that clarifies and amplifies what your brand stands for, even as you update the look and feel. It’s about reinforcing that deeper connection with your audience, while staying relevant to the times. Modernizing a brand is never just about changing visuals or colors—it's about making sure your mission still shines through, louder and clearer than ever before. Huge shout out to Amy Bebbington, our Global Head of Brand at Mozilla, for leading this project with grace, grit, and an unmeasurable amount of heart. ✨For more on Mozilla’s exciting transformation , check out my blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gn3x6WKu #BrandRefresh #MarketingStrategy #CMO #BrandInnovation #Mozilla #TechMarketing #DigitalTransformation #OpenWeb

How can Public AI pave the way for a safer, smarter future for everyone? 🌍 🎧 Tune in to the @Everyday AI Podcast to hear from Nik Marda Mozilla’s Technical Lead on AI governance. Nik dives into the critical work Mozilla is doing to build public counterpoints to private AI, championing a vision of AI that serves humanity—not just corporations. “When we talk about Public AI, we don’t just mean governments. Governments are, of course, a core part of public, but there are many other public institutions. Right? Think about the early days of the Internet and what’s come from that to today. You have the Mozilla Foundation backing Firefox. You have the Apache Foundation and the Linux Foundation backing those respective, services. So you have these nonprofits that are creating, a sustainable open source product that folks can build on top of. And you can imagine that sort of thing happening with AI as well.” https://bit.ly/4eKqGhM

Last week, we had the privilege of co-hosting a breakfast roundtable event with the University of Cape Town (UCT) and USAID, hosted by UCT Vice-Chancellor Professor Mosa Moshabela. Themed “South Africa: Responsible Computing – Curriculum and Beyond,” the event brought together thought leaders, including the USAID-SA Mission Director, African Bureau, and Emerging Technologies teams. Discussions centered on key topics such as responsible computing curriculum, industry engagement, and youth development. A highlight of the conversation was exploring the broader role universities can play beyond curriculum creation, particularly in advocacy, policy influence, and inclusive skills training. By fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and government, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and sustainable digital future for South Africa. What role do you think universities should play in shaping AI and tech policy?
