🌍 What if funders boldly supported efforts to reshape harmful societal narratives? 🧐 Narrative work is most impactful when rooted in strong relationships. James Savage from The Fund for Global Human Rights notes, "Relationships [are] an enabling condition for the narrative infrastructure that is vital to power building." Shifting resources allows activists and organizations to make thoughtful decisions, prevent harm, and enable narrative practitioners to push forward visions of liberation. Funding with an ecosystem approach builds trust, deepens understanding, and ensures that knowledge and skills are shared widely, strengthening the entire narrative field. MSC provides values-aligned infrastructure for BIPOC and women-led organizations.
About us
MSC provides values-aligned infrastructure for BIPOC and women-led organizations at the intersection of racial inequity and environmental justice. We put love at the center and embody the values and spirit of our partners. Our mission is to provide values aligned, holistic intermediary services enabling access to crucial infrastructure and thought partnership for BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA movement leaders, activists, and communities challenging intersectional issues of systemic racism, rampant environmental destruction, and crippling economic exploitation. We are unique in that we do not operate as a singular organization but as a collective ecosystem incubating and accelerating the work of our partner projects, which speaks to our values of radical interdependence and love. Our vision is of a Just Transition from a world of domination, extraction, and violence — where the few live at the expense of the many — to a world of interdependence, liberation, and resilience — where the many govern for the benefit of all. We understand that a Just Transition is only possible when the voices of BIPOC, women, and GNC leaders are honored, celebrated, and amplified, not merely tolerated.

🌍💪 Let's dive into the Solidarity Economy! An article from Fortunately features Francisco Pérez, a solidarity economy activist, educator, and researcher. In his conversation with Ciera Michele Peters and Mark Hernandez Motaghy, they discuss why artists and the solidarity economy are essential to each other. Pérez, former director of the Center for Popular Economics and now an assistant professor at the University of Utah, emphasizes the power of cooperation in the solidarity economy: "Each of you brings something, but together, you all bring something else that none of you individually could deliver." The solidarity economy thrives on our collective efforts, and Pérez illustrates this beautifully. 🌊 In Southern California, the Nüümü people are fighting to recover their stolen waters from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Since 1850, "beneficial use" laws have denied them their water rights, deeming their traditional ditch system obsolete. A big thank you goes to our partners at Latinx Racial Equity Project, who highlighted this struggle in their newsletter roundup. 🌈 In recent years, there's been an explosion in rural queer organizing. The countryside, often seen as slow to change, is now a hub for queer utopianism. Despite major victories like same sex marriage and open military service, many still face challenges if they cannot or will not come out. But creative, liberatory solutions are emerging. 🌱 Imagine if we gave tax breaks to relationships that provide meaningful mutual support, regardless of their nature — sexual, familial, or platonic. This approach would support queer individuals living together as friends, roommates, or cousins and foster solidarity with multigenerational families, single people, immigrant communities, and working class folks. Today marks ten years since Eric Garner's life was brutally taken by New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo. His death ignited nationwide protests against police brutality and systemic racism. The latter half of 2014 saw young Black artists and cultural workers, particularly from the epicenter of the #BlackLivesMatter movement in Ferguson, leading the way with powerful and creative responses. In 2014, 1,043 people were killed by police. We've lost Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Walter Scott, Gabriella Nevarez, Aura Rosser, Michelle Cusseaux, Tanisha Anderson, and countless others. Now, a decade later, over 675 people have been killed in 2024 alone, according to Mapping Violence. 📷 "Eyes of Eric Garner" by artist JR.

We are inspired by the story of the Woodland Plantation House in Louisiana, where one of the largest slave revolts in U.S. history began. For the first time, this historic site is under Black ownership. Twin sisters Jo and Joy Banner are transforming the plantation into a museum, reinterpreting the 1811 uprising as a source of inspiration for new generations to confront racism. "While others may see a beautiful plantation home, for us, this space means a lot," Jo Banner says. "It's the knowing we have to keep fighting and knowing what footsteps we're following." The 1811 revolt, led by Charles Deslondes and other enslaved freedom fighters, symbolizes resilience and the ongoing struggle for justice.
