Event in Geraldine, MT will offer life-saving training to rural residents --- The team at Geraldine Community Ambulance is gearing up to offer a unique training opportunity for residents in the area, designed to teach life-saving techniques to those living in rural areas. The course, titled "Far Out and Waiting," will provide practical guidance for handling medical emergencies while waiting for professional help to arrive. Kevin Hickman, an EMT with the Geraldine Community Ambulance, explained the importance of the upcoming training. "It was the brainchild of the Montana Farmers Union, and it's directed to laypeople who don't have a medical background," Hickman said. "Just kind of the nature of the beast with rural EMS is that sometimes it takes a little while to get to the far reaches of our areas." The training aims to equip rural residents with the knowledge and skills needed to provide basic first aid, CPR, rescue breathing, and other life-saving measures in emergencies. For rural communities, where ambulance response times may be delayed due to distance, this knowledge can be the difference between life and death. Montana Healthcare Highlight --- “Founded in 1917, the Great Falls Clinic is the fourth oldest medical clinic west of the Mississippi. Originally based on the vision that quality healthcare need not be confined to large urban centers, our mission today is focused on becoming Montana’s healthcare choice. To accomplish our goal, we strive to assess and meet the needs of the 250,000 residents living in the seventeen north central Montana counties that we serve.” Thank you, Great Falls Hospital, for being a valued member of the MHA community! https://gfclinic.com/ https://lnkd.in/g86aVn39 (Photo credit: LPW Architecture) --- #MontanaHealthcare #MontanaHospitals #HealthcareHighlight

Just like that we’re saying goodbye to a beautiful Fall in Montana… and hello to flu and cold season. While seasonal influenza (flu) viruses are detected year-round in the United States, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter. Protect yourself, and your loved ones by getting vaccinated for the flu and your updated COVID-19 booster. #UnitedAgainstFlu #GetVaccinated

Northern Montana Care Center in Havre recently received the Montana Health Care Association's 2024 Group Volunteer of the Year Award for its "Introduction to Volunteering" class, led by Volunteer Services Director Elizabeth (Lizzy) Lindbom, who traveled to Helena last week to accept the award. The Introduction to Volunteering class was created to give younger students, whose parents are employed by Northern Montana Health Care, the chance to learn the value of volunteering. The program has played an integral role in Northern Montana Health Care's outreach efforts, fostering an environment of learning, sharing, and mutual respect. This class provides a unique opportunity for younger students to spend time building relationships with residents of the Northern Montana Care Center. The Care Center residents eagerly anticipate their time with the students, who bring a fresh energy to their Friday schedules. Montana Healthcare Highlight --- “The Northern Cheyenne Service Unit (Lame Deer, MT), in partnership with the Northern Cheyenne Community, strives to raise their physical, mental, social and spiritual health to the highest level using the principles of "the patient comes first" with a focus on health care and health promotion, in a culturally sensitive manner while empowering the individual. We take great pride in delivering compassionate care to our patients. Respecting that our Native patients still embrace their native culture allows for a better patient-provider relationship. When the new clinic was built, a Healing Room for traditional ceremonies was included in the plans. The service unit is about 63,000 square feet and includes a staff of over 100 to help serve those needs. We have fully embraced the Electronic Health Record. We are pro-active with an enthusiastic and dedicated administrative and clinical staff that continually seeks to improve the delivery of health care. The Northern Cheyenne Service Unit is accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).” Thank you, Northern Cheyenne Health Center, for being a valued member of the MHA community! https://lnkd.in/gn8xtnHJ https://lnkd.in/g2_iUHAQ --- #MontanaHealthcare #MontanaHospitals #HealthcareHighlight

Clinical research milestone in Billings means hope for Montana residents --- The clinical research program at Intermountain Health's St. Vincent Regional Hospital has come a long way since its inception in 2015. Just shy of a decade later, St. V’s research team has grown from a team of two to 15, and in August enrolled their 800th patient in a clinical trial. “We wanted to do it faster, we wanted to do it better,” Cobb said. “That’s how we became a target for pharmaceutical companies to do trials here.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gsWS8fgq --- #MontanaHealthcare #MontanaHospitals

Thanks to Deer Lodge Medical Center for putting the AWESOME in REACH. Our South Central AHEC team partnered with Deer Lodge Medical Center to bring Deer Lodge High School students to its facility for REACH camp last week. Students took an ambulance ride while performing CPR on a manikin, they injected oranges with saline in the clinical department, and learned about the surgery department where they don/doffed PPE for a simulated laparoscopic surgery. REACH Camps allow students to “Research and Explore Awesome Careers in Healthcare,” helping to spark interest in the field and build the next generation of healthcare workers.

Montana Healthcare Highlight ----- “Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit 25 Bed Critical Access Hospital with a Rural Health Care Clinic and 24 hour Emergency Room Care. Based in Scobey, Montana, with a total county population of 1,643 (2008 Census Bureau Estimate) DMHC is designated as a ‘frontier’ facility in a ‘medically underserved area’ because of its location in a remote, rural area. Despite what sound like challenges to providing quality health care, Daniels Memorial has been able to use these designations as an advantage in receiving federal funds as well as grant and foundation awards, allowing them to maintain a full-service facility, offering comprehensive care and cutting edge technologies.” Thank you, Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center, for being a valued member of the MHA community! ---- https://lnkd.in/g9a5U_WK https://lnkd.in/gjuv7fBd ---- #MontanaHealthcare #MontanaHospitals #HealthcareHighlight
