My Zoom H6 Debut Review I recently had the opportunity to put my new Zoom H6 to the test. As an audio enthusiast, I was immediately impressed by its compact size, user-friendly interface, and practical features. I was invited to record a live band performance at the Class of '79 Canyon High School reunion. For the audio, I strategically placed the Zoom H6 in the center of the stage, about 20 feet away, with the XY mics set at a 90-degree angle. I positioned two DRV-100 dynamic vocal mics on either side of the stage, approximately 6 feet away, and fed them into channels 1 and 2. I also received a mic feed from the main soundboard, which I routed to channel 3. With everything set up, I adjusted the levels and hit record! Afterward, I mixed down the four channels using DaVinci Resolve. Judge for yourself and tell us what you think! The Delightful Difference: In-Person vs. Virtual Collaboration It's easy to get caught up in the convenience and cost-effectiveness of virtual platforms like Zoom. However, our recent experience serves as a reminder of the unique value that human connection brings to the table. When our VO director, Richard Dansky, unexpectedly joined us in person, the session became noticeably more productive and enjoyable.The ability to read facial expressions, pick up on subtle cues, and engage in real-time discussions made a significant difference in the quality of our work. While virtual collaboration is undoubtedly a valuable tool, it's important to recognize its limitations. In many cases, the in-person experience is simply irreplaceable. Salt Lake City, Night and Day! Daytime mobile vo recording in downtown SLC and Night time at the KOA. We are so grateful for the beautiful weather and sunny skies! Our engineer Steve set up two condenser mics, borrowed a hardline internet from the venue with a 500mbps speed and are ready for our session slated for 5pm. The VO director will be zoomed in from Germany and we will do a “share screen” with one of the assistant editors. Our biggest challenge was locking down the spot where we will park the trailer.  Some might argue that ADR is simply a technical skill, not an art form. But let's not get into that debate now. What's undeniable is that ADR has been honed to near perfection. Gone are the days of obvious mismatches in sound quality, like the glaring differences in "Columbo." Even as a non-audio professional, I used to notice these issues all the time! But back then, it seemed normal. Hats off to all my ADR pioneer friends! The fact that you dared to try paved the way for this seamless experience. Today, however, unless I'm specifically looking at the cue sheets, I can't tell which lines are ADR.
