#MitsubishiPower is advancing next-generation energy technologies for decarbonization at two facilities in Japan. By collaborating closely between Takasago and Nagasaki, Mitsubishi Power aims to support the transition to a hydrogen society. 🔵Takasago Hydrogen Park (Takasago City, Hyogo Prefecture) This integrated facility is verifying technologies for hydrogen production, storage, and power generation for the rapid commercialization of #hydrogen #gasturbines. Hydrogen single-firing and co-firing are being tested in actual gas turbines for power generation to improve product reliability.      🔴Nagasaki Carbon Neutral Park (Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture) This facility is a base for technology development related to energy decarbonization, which is producing biomass fuel and developing ammonia firing technologies in addition to hydrogen production. 🎉 For International Women in Engineering Day, we’re celebrating #engineers like Mitsubishi Power’s Tomoko Morikawa, who are vital to developing the solutions that will power the #energytransition. Early in her career, Morikawa-san was eager to use technology and machines to make a positive impact on the world. “I was captivated by the advanced nature of the individual technologies, the complex balance of each element, and the potential to have a significant contribution to society.” Today, Morikawa-san leads a diverse team of engineers collaborating on some of the most promising solutions that make decarbonization possible, from bridging technical aspects of gas turbine technology with the #energytransition to hydrogen production. As a mother, Morikawa-san is driven to ensure a brighter future for generations to come by harnessing the power of technology to address global environmental issues. “Our job is to take an idea for solving a social problem, which has no form, and turn it into an actual form with weight and dimensions – and implement it in society. At Mitsubishi Power, our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are an essential part of fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging within our organization. Kevin Miller and the J-POWER USA team knew selecting the right turbine technology would be critical when constructing their new Jackson Generation power plant. A trip (to the other side of the globe) to our Takasago Machinery Works demonstration facility allowed them to see our M501JAC advanced class gas turbines in action. By the time the J-POWER USA team was onsite the turbine had logged over 8,000 hours of operation, during which our engineers monitored, refined, and improved the model. At Mitsubishi Power, we have a unique approach to technology design and validation investing a year's worth of operating hours before commercializing the technology.
