This is Mitchell. He has profound/severe autism. His disability will sometimes cause him to be physically aggressive toward others and himself. Because of his disability, when he is older and his father is no longer able to care for him, he will be denied housing by the vast majority of group homes, assisted living facilities, and other community living programs. There is hope for Mitchell. We are building a place for Mitchell and others just like him. When you donate, you will help Mitchell and countless others with complex behavioral issues with a place where they can live, be supported, and be cared for. You will help their families find peace of mind knowing their loved one is cared for long after the family can physically care for them. Your support will give the marginalized in our community a place to call home! 🔸Our CEO, Greg Curoso, has experienced firsthand with his own child's ABA center what can happen when private equity takes over: the quality of care decreases sharply, and ultimately the operation shutters. 🔸Unfortunately, the most vulnerable seem to suffer when profit is prioritized over the people these healthcare operations are supposed to serve. 🔸Mitchell's Mountain is unwavering in our commitment to always prioritize the care of your sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and friends over the dollar. 🔸As our mission states, we will "SERVE PEOPLE" and "celebrate our residents’ inherent dignity, value, and purpose through compassionate care." That is all that matters. #mitchellsmountain #aba #asd #autism #autismspectrumdisorder #disabilites #dignity #servepeople https://lnkd.in/gkRFRukx

🚨 An alarming 1 in 44 (2.3%) of central Arkansas 8-year-olds have #autism (AR ADDM program at UAMS). 👉Not all will have severe behavioral issues. However, some will. When they are adults, where will they live when they are too aggressive, violent, or destructive for their parents to care for them? Who will provide them the structure they crave for their daily routines? Who will keep them safe from themselves? 👉These questions must be addressed in #NorthWestArkansas and throughout the state and country. If we turn our back on the most vulnerable population we will, unfortunately, see an epidemic of homelessness, incarceration, and even deaths of individuals who are disabled with behavioral problems. 👉It's time to do something. That's why we are here. We don't just want to bring awareness to the issue. We want to solve the problem. We want to serve the people no one else wants to help. https://lnkd.in/gsTFJsK6 #NWA #NWAhousing #housing #ASD #autismspectrumdisorder #disabilities #behavior #aggression #mitchellsmountain #livingcommunity

🔸Up to 70 foster children, some with severe developmental disabilities and trauma, live in hotel rooms with social workers in Georgia. "Hoteling" highlights the need for a permanent housing solution for people with disabilities, especially behavioral disabilities. 🔸#MitchellsMountain Living Community aims to provide the housing security and stability for adults with severe behavioral disabilities that we all need and deserve as human beings. 🔸Please consider following and sharing our page and mission to bring more awareness to the coming housing crisis for adults with severe behavioral disabilities and support us in combating this growing problem. #NWA #northwestarkansas #housinginsecurity #housing #home #disabilities #behavioraldisabilities #asd #autism #autismspectrumdisorder https://lnkd.in/gW5STFmu

🌎People with autism make up approximately 1-2% of the US population, yet this preliminary study found that 12% of the homeless population has autism. ➡️Why is this number so disproportionate? There are multiple reasons but two we aim to help with: 1️⃣ lack of appropriate public or private housing and; 2️⃣ the inability of family members to physically care for their loved ones due to behaviors/aggression from severe autism. https://lnkd.in/g5KRzwuB. #asd #autism #autismspectrumdisorder #homelessness #homeless #nwa #northwestarkansas #housing #disability #mitchellsmountain #neurodiversity
