Can small practices lead the healthcare revolution? Dr. Wayne Altman of Family Practice Group believes they can—and he’s proving it. 🚀 In our latest Q&A we explore how he is transforming his Massachusetts-based family practice with the collaborative care model (CoCM). Learn about launching a new CoCM program from the primary care provider perspective, including the problems it has solved for him, what patients think of it, and his advice to other PCPs considering building their own collaborative care programs. Family Practice Group shows that innovation isn't just for big hospitals—small practices can lead the way. Measure twice, cut once. It's good general advice, really. For a lot of things. Relevant here, it's also the name of the measurement-based care video series shared recently by the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association. Mirah's co-founder and CTO Hugh Barrigan was invited to participate in the short-form content covering what measurement-based care (MBC) is, why technology is needed to support it, and finding the right technology for your organization. 👉 Why is Measurement-Based Care a Thing? - https://lnkd.in/eTaiUQP8 👉 Why Technology is Crucial for Measurement-Based Care: https://lnkd.in/eNQK76XX 👉 How to Engage Health Tech Companies: https://lnkd.in/eziDCzqk #CFHA #collaborativecare #measurementbasedcare #MBC

Mirah's Mark Potter & Jessica Lyons MS, LMFT headed to the Emerald City earlier this month to take part in the AIMS Center Integrated Care Conference. Delighted to see so many familiar faces and make new connections also committed to improving mental healthcare access and outcomes. True systemic change can only be achieved through the collective impact of many hands working together towards a shared vision. #IntegratedBehavioralHealth #CollaborativeCare #CoCM #IntegratedCare

Absolutely thrilled to have attended the AIMS Center Conference in Seattle along with Mark Potter on behalf of Mirah, where we joined a community of like-minded professionals dedicated to transforming mental healthcare through Integrated Behavioral Health and the Collaborative Care Model. It was inspiring to move beyond discussing the "why" of Collaborative Care and focus on the "how" to enhance its implementation. The wealth of knowledge, innovative ideas, and meaningful connections made were truly energizing. A heartfelt thank you to the organizers, speakers (especially wonderful to meet you, Virna Little!), and fellow attendees. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year! #healthcareinnovation #cocm #aimscenter #mentalhealth #IntegratedBehavioralHealth

Our CTO Hugh Barrigan was invited to speak about the collaborative care model to the X = Primary Care crew earlier this week. Watch the XPC replay to hear him break down the integrated care landscape, including: 1️⃣ why it's becoming more common, 2️⃣ the benefits for primary care providers, and 3️⃣ what this means for BH organizations. #collaborativecare #CoCM #primarycare #behavioralhealth
I got a tough grilling last night from Paulius Mui, MD and the rest of the XPC crew. We talked about the evolving direction of integrated care and how the Collaborative Care model looks to be the best bet for improving both access and behavioral outcomes for patients in primary care. Which is basically...everyone? https://lnkd.in/epStm8nK #collaborativecare #cocm #primarycare #integratedbehavioralhealth

One in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness.* This staggering statistic demonstrates the importance of screening patients in primary care - the place where they are most likely to see a provider. Screening means earlier detection. Earlier detection means catching conditions before they worsen. It means helping patients get better - and do so faster. 👏 The challenge, however, is most mental health screens assess one condition at a time - like the commonly used PHQ-9 for depression. This single-condition approach results in under-recognition and misdiagnosis of many other common mental health conditions. The M3 Checklist was designed to fix that. A nationally recognized, peer-reviewed, and clinically validated tool, the M3 Checklist measures and scores a patient’s mood and anxiety symptoms across various mental health conditions. It is changing screening in primary care. And, we're thrilled to support it. Announced today, the M3 Checklist is now available in Mirah to make better screening easier than ever before. ✅ Together, we're empowering providers with easier assessment, streamlined longitudinal symptom tracking, and more robust insights. Imagine you had a problem. But, there was a solution to that problem. That solution had been studied through years of research. That solution had positive effects for all stakeholders. And - wait for it - it turns out it would also save you money! Would you take it? The answer is obvious, right? Everyone talks about the mental health care system being "broken" but it turns out there is, in fact, a solution. We just need to put it into action. Mirah was built to help practices, organizations, and health systems do just that. So, we're honored to support and be featured in the Issue Brief put together by The Bowman Family Foundation advocating for the wide-scale adoption of collaborative care and offering a clear, tangible call-to-action for governing bodies, regulators, and payers to drive it. Let's go, Boston Globe! 👏 The collaborative care model improves health care quality, lowers costs, and reduces provider burden... it results in happier providers and happier, healthier patients. It deserves a spotlight and we're so grateful to see it getting one. Boston Globe's article also acknowledged the difficulty of organizational change: "Transforming the practice of medicine is never simple, but there are resources available to help doctors implement collaborative care. More physician practices should take that leap." That's the very reason why, at Mirah, we're more than a tech solution. We are delighted to be linked to here but, more importantly, to see the relentless hard work of our partners highlighted - The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Dr. Wayne Altman and Family Practice Group, and our own Jessica Lyons MS, LMFT. They are changing lives every day. The question is no longer whether collaborative care works - it's 'why aren't more practices doing it?' Let's fix that. https://lnkd.in/eu8Kf4PM #CollaborativeCare #CollaborativeCareModel #BostonGlobe - Ian Lang - Boston Globe Media

Will integrating the Collaborative Care Model into primary care practices help alleviate the youth mental health crisis? For Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, we are highlighting the work of our partner, the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (MMHPI), and their efforts to advance the integration of the Collaborative Care Model. Experts in the pediatric Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) agree that the pediatric CoCM is a ready-to-go and practical solution for the current mental health crisis affecting kids all over the country. Details regarding CoCM in pediatrics were discussed at the Inaugural Pediatric and Adolescent Collaborative Care Roundtable Roundtable hosted by MMHPI and Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. Systemic change requires the work of many. So many. That is one of the reasons we deeply appreciate events like the Reimagining Primary Care Forum & the Future of Mental Healthcare Summit. Unlike other conferences, these smaller forums offer community and the opportunity to consider that change with candid, deep conversations alongside industry leaders committed to making healthcare better. Access, parity, workforce... There is so much we can do. So much we need to do. But the biggest step forward to tackling that? Knowing that we're better together. We're stronger together. Echoing Marjorie Morrison's sentiment, to figure this out "it will take all of us together." 👏 #RPC2024 #FOMH2024 #ReimaginingPrimaryCare #CollaborativeCare - Mark Potter Jessica Lyons MS, LMFT & Amy Pearlman
