If you could build an ideal summer program, it just might look like this: six minutes of riveting Mozart (Overture to Don Giovanni), a dazzling violin concerto to blow your socks off (Saint-Georges’ Violin Concerto in A major) and a joyously infectious Beethoven symphony (his Fourth) to round out the evening. To open our summer season, we’re bringing that program to you this Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, led by Delyana Lazarova and spotlighting MinnOrch violinist Natsuki Kumagai. Meet a musician: Valerie Little You might recognize Valerie from her occasional appearances as host of pre-concert talks; otherwise, she's in our music library preparing scores, collaborating with conductors and making sure music is ready for MinnOrch musicians. Valerie originally came to our library while working on her doctorate in viola performance in 2009—and she's been here ever since! Get to know her > https://bit.ly/3xQ61t0

Congratulations to our President & CEO Michelle Miller Burns on her appointment as Dallas Symphony Orchestra's next President & CEO. Burns has been a tenacious leader during a pivotal six years for the Orchestra, and she will be deeply missed. She will continue her role with the Minnesota Orchestra through September 13, working closely with Board Chair Nancy Lindahl, musician leadership and senior staff to ensure a smooth transition. The Orchestra Board will begin a search for her successor soon. “Michelle has come to mean so much to this organization over the last six years,” said Board Chair Nancy Lindahl. “She has expertly navigated extremely challenging times, exemplifying collaborative leadership and demonstrating what it means to listen to colleagues and build and tend relationships with people. It has been my great pleasure to work alongside her in championing the Minnesota Orchestra and, on behalf of the entire organization, we share big congratulations and send her south to Dallas with our best wishes.” Read the full release > https://bit.ly/4cCGaUc

Happy Pride week, Minnesota! Visibility matters—we've seen how important it is right here at home. Three MinnOrch violists that all identify as LGBTQ , Jude Park, Rebecca Albers and Sam Bergman, sat down for a vulnerable conversation about Pride recently.
