Yesterday, MPHA welcomed U.S. Department of the Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to tour a unit in one of the agency’s new sixplexes as a part of its 16-site, modular multiplex Family Housing Expansion Project. The Secretary was joined by Senator Tina Smith, Senator Amy Klobuchar, City of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and others to highlight the federal investments that helped enable MPHA’s nation-leading project.
Those federal investments include $19.9M from Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, $4M in federal ARPA dollars (via the City of Minneapolis), and more than $500,000 from solar tax credits, nearly doubled by the Inflation Reduction Act. This visit comes as MPHA continues to earn a growing number of local, national, and international celebrations and acclimations for FHEP, a project enabled in part by Minneapolis’ 2040 Plan.
