Mini-Grids Partnership
Industry Associations
Bringing partners together to build a strong clean energy mini-grid sector
About us
The Mini-Grids Partnership is a consortium of over 320 like-minded mini-grid stakeholders interested in enhancing and complementing each other’s work through collaboration and coordination. To this end, the Partnership seeks to be an ‘umbrella’ group that can bridge discrete but related stakeholders and initiatives, from both the public and private sector. The Mini-Grids Partnership was founded in 2014 under the auspices of Sustainable Energy for All. The Partnership is governed by a Steering Committee with representation from funders/financiers, government, industry and other enablers. The Committee includes African Development Bank, Africa Minigrid Developers Association, Alliance for Rural Electrification, CLUB-ER, FCDO, GIZ, GET.invest, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Power for All, Rockefeller Foundation, SNV, SEforALL, and the World Bank. The Steering Committee is responsible for providing strategic guidance and oversight to the Partnership’s operations. The Partnership’s day-to-day operations is led by its Secretariat at SEforALL and the Alliance for Rural Electrification. The Mini-Grids Partnership is a voluntary partnership of leading mini-grid stakeholders – from both the public and private sector – that seeks to accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy mini-grids by exchanging information and ideas and shaping policy and markets to unlock the potential of widespread mini-grid electrification.

On the sidelines of #UNGA79, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) organized an event together our partners Enel Group and Africa50 Infrastructure Investment Platform, focusing on global support towards an #energytransition that ends #energy poverty, combats #climatechange and powers livelihoods. This event saw key leaders including Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations; Birame Souleye DIOP, #Senegal’s Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines; Ambassador André Aranha Corrêa do Lago, #Brazil’s Secretary for Climate, Energy and Environment; among others, calling for an increase in the scale and ambition of sustainable energy investments and projects. The strategic role of #EnergyCompacts in advancing global energy transitions, particularly the Government of Brazil’s efforts to establish voluntary principles for a just and equitable energy transition, encouraging governments and non-state actors to turn these principles into tangible action, was highlighted. Finally, we spotlighted the ambitious #PoweringAfrica effort by The World Bank and African Development Bank Group working together with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), The Rockefeller Foundation and The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to bring electricity to 300 million people in Africa by 2030. Thank you Josh Oxby, Victoria Kwakwa, Kate Brandt, Vera Pinto Pereira, Anita George, Caroline Eboumbou, Kevin KARIUKI, Aminu Umar-Sadiq, and Ashvin Dayal
