🎉 22 Midway High School students earned recognition through National Merit and College Board National Recognition Programs! This year’s honorees include two National Merit Semifinalists who are among the top 1% of U.S. high school seniors, three National Merit Commended Students, and 17 National African, Hispanic, Indigenous, and First-Generation Recognition Program Scholars. Last spring, in response to teacher feedback, our Teaching and Learning Department launched a podcast with two simple goals: provide easily accessible professional learning opportunities and create a space where teachers can hear from their colleagues across the district, offering a glimpse into their classrooms. These goals came together under our tagline: Inform, Inspire, Include. We've released several series so far: 📚 Series 1: A Lesson Learned – where teachers share their most impactful lessons and instructional strategies. 🎤 Series 2: Confessions of a First-Year Teacher – featuring interviews with new teachers and their mentors as they reflect on their journey. 🚀 Series 3: Leading the MidWAY – just launched! This series focuses on leadership and complements the rollout of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and the Leader in Me curriculum. This week our Midway ISD MHS students who will be working on the Tango Flight, Inc. capital project met their mentors! We are so thankful to these gentlemen from Baylor ROTC, Texas State Technical College Waco, Hewitt Police Department, and L3Harris Technologies for serving their time to help develop our students and come alongside Mr. Gibson as they set out to build an airplane over the next two years! How lucky we are to be located in a community where volunteers are willing to donate their time to advance education!
