Simply put, women are good for business. Research shows that workplaces with more female employees than average have more collaboration, organizational dedication, and profitability than those that don’t. Employees also find their jobs more meaningful and experience less burnout when there is a higher percentage of females in the workplace. We think it’s fair to assume that women in midlife—with their years of experience, knowledge, and relationship building—are all-stars behind these results. But women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are also struggling to deal with menopause symptoms like depression, hot flashes, and trouble sleeping, often with little to no support or understanding at work. According to a new survey of women ages 40 to 64 conducted by Bonafide Health, almost half of women say menopause impacts their job performance, and 76% have no workplace accommodations to help them. Here are some other standout findings: 50% of the respondents believe that experiencing menopause makes others view them as less productive and emotionally unstable in the workplace. More than 40% say menopause has inhibited their career ambitions. At Midi Health, our clinicians offer therapeutic care for women in perimenopause and menopause—women who overwhelmingly feel that their needs are dismissed or flat-out missed by the healthcare system. By listening to women and devising customized Care Plans, we treat symptoms they are often otherwise told to “just deal with.”  Support for women in menopause comes in many forms. And while we know that holistic menopause care can be significant, awareness, recognition, and compassion in the workplace are critical, too. #joinmidi #stateofmenopause #menopause #menopauseatwork

Employers: Women in your workplace need your help with something. It’s affecting their performance, their wellness, and even their perception of you. Almost 65% say they want related benefits, but only 14% think you’ve noticed. What’s more? They probably won’t ever say a thing about it. These are just some of the interesting findings that came out of a Bank of America and National Menopause Foundation survey on menopause in the workplace. One particularly important TLDR: There’s a good chance you and your female employees aren’t on the same page when it comes to how well your organization not only supports them but understands what they are dealing with when it comes to menopause. A few key points that grabbed our attention: ✴️ Half of women say menopause has had a negative impact on their work life, but their managers may not understand what they’re experiencing: Employers can list only half as many potential symptoms of menopause as female employees, on average. ✴️ 71% of benefits managers have a positive perception of their company’s menopause culture, but only 32% of female employees agree with them. Male employers are 10% more likely to have this view than female employers. ✴️ While more than three-fourths of benefits managers say they talk about menopause with employees, only 3% of employees say they’ve ever had discussions on the topic. Employers say the #1 reason they don’t offer menopause benefits is that employees don’t ask for them. Unfortunately, less than half feel comfortable bringing the subject up to HR, according to the survey. As the leading healthcare solution for women in midlife, Midi Health is dedicated to supporting the needs of women and shattering taboos associated with menopause to help them get the care they need. Your female employees may not be coming to you asking for perimenopause and menopause benefits. But, as this report reinforces, silence often speaks the loudest. Lorna Sabbia

We’re proud to announce that Midi Health and Keck Medicine of USC are collaborating to provide expert, specialized care for women in perimenopause and menopause.👏 Currently, a shocking 75% of women who seek menopause care don't get the treatment they need. Not only are these women missing out on much-needed relief from debilitating, demoralizing, and sometimes painful symptoms—they are also at an increased risk of future health conditions. Research shows that menopause care reduces the chance of developing heart disease, osteoporosis, dementia, and more, adding to a woman’s lifespan and healthspan. Midi’s collaboration with Keck Medicine of USC will help address a serious unmet need for midlife care by supporting women in the Los Angeles community. “We are excited to work with Keck Medicine of USC to close the gap in care for the millions of women who experience symptoms of menopause,” says Joanna Strober, Midi Health’s CEO and co-founder. “This program gives women access to the treatment they need at a crucial stage in their lives.” While we know that Midi patients appreciate the convenience and privacy of virtual visits, we also recognize that in-person care is a vital part of their medical support. Integrating with hospital systems lets us provide a seamless experience by sharing healthcare records, coordinating with your other providers, and avoiding replicated tests. Midi's virtual clinic offers high-touch virtual services for patients in Los Angeles while supporting their continued connection to the expertise and care of their Keck USC-affiliated physicians. Patients can easily access Midi’s care by going directly to joinmidi.com/km or getting a referral from their Keck Medicine of USC-affiliated physician. "Every woman deserves to have doctors who are well-educated in perimenopause." - We're shouting this with you, Kristin Auble, and grateful that Vogue helped you amplify this message! We're also happy you ultimately found the care you needed at Midi. The perimenopausal decline in estrogen and other hormones can start as early as your thirties, and the effects hit every woman's body differently. Kristin's perimenopause started with frozen shoulder syndrome - excruciating shock waves of pain reverberating through her shoulder, arm, and neck - followed by many of other symptoms. Yet her doctors never discussed treatment options that would address her hormones. Misinformation about hormone therapy is still rampant due to a WHI study from twenty years ago: “This study caused millions of women to flush their hormone therapy down the toilet and is still the reason why many practitioners are hesitant to give estrogen to patients who are suffering even though subsequent studies of the WHI pointed out flaws that skewed the data," shared Lauren Streicher MD, Midi's Director of Community Education and Outreach and founding Medical Director of the Northwestern Medicine Center for Sexual Medicine and Menopause. Finding a doctor to address your menopause symptoms can be a very time-consuming and expensive process, depending on your healthcare coverage and where you live. Kristin highlights her journey with several specialists before going the telehealth route and landing on Midi because of our wide selection of insurance coverage options and menopause expertise. Thank you, Kirstin Auble, for bringing awareness to the challenges most women face in finding expert care for their menopause and perimenopause symptoms. We're glad you *finally* found relief with Midi.

Despite advancements in gender equity, women still spend 25% more of their lives in poor health compared to men. Women spend an average of nine years in poor health, limiting their ability to be productive both at home and in the workforce. Those are some of the conclusions of McKinsey & Company's recent report, "Closing the Women’s Health Gap: A $1 Trillion Opportunity to Improve Lives and Economies". The upside: Addressing this stark gender care gap and providing the care women need could potentially add $1 trillion to the global economy. How do we get there? The report highlights the importance of investing in women-centric research, enhancing access to gender-specific care, and creating supportive health policies. At Midi, we resonate deeply with these findings. Our telehealth services provide high-quality care to women in perimenopause and menopause, enabling them to thrive through a decades-long life stage. We help close the gender health gap, promoting better health outcomes and stronger productivity for women in midlife and far beyond. #JoinMidi #healthgap #womenshealth #womenshealthgap

While some strides have been made in clinical research, we are still decades behind where we need to be. Thanks to Evvy, we are turning the conversation about the gender health gap into a movement with a dedicated day of observance. Today marks Equal Research Day, an initiative by Evvy to celebrate the passing of the NIH Revitalization Act, which first required the inclusion of women in clinical research in 1993. At the time, researchers held biased concerns that female hormone fluctuations made women too "difficult" to study and increased research costs. Despite the progress made since then, disparities persist. For instance, a 2019 study found that only 4% of NIH-funded studies focused specifically on the health needs of non-white women. Additionally, older adults, pregnant and lactating individuals, people from the LGBTQIA community, and people with disabilities remain significantly underrepresented. Only 1.8% of studies included pregnant women, despite their critical need for research-backed health information. Moreover, menopausal women, typically between the ages of 45 and 55, are often overlooked in clinical trials despite representing a significant portion of the population with unique health needs. On this Equal Research Day, let’s champion the importance of inclusive research and strive for a future where every group is represented and studied. Together, we can bridge these gaps and ensure that all populations receive the attention and care they deserve in clinical research. #JoinMidi #Evvy #EqualResearchDay

Need a career shot-in-the arm? We just got one from our CEO, Joanna Strober: “I've heard it said, 'When you get tired, rest, don't quit." And I kind of love that. You're going to get tired, things aren't always going to work. Then just take a breath, and then keep going.” Joanna also talked about menopause and prepping yourself for hormonal change in your thirties (yes, that early) with hosts Jenn Cohen and Laura Demuth on the Mighty as a Mother Podcast. It's an inspiring listen from moms and non-moms alike:
