About us
Michigan Pharmacy Foundation (MPF) was established as an initiative of Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) in 1993. MPF’s Mission Statement: “To Foster the Future of Pharmacy” MPF’s Vision Statement: “One Pharmacy Profession, Maximizing Health and Wellness” Adopted by the MPF Board of Trustees, August 25, 2022 MPF History During its early years, contributors known as the Founder’s Club donated a minimum $1,000 each to help launch the Foundation. Since then, MPF has awarded more than $270,000 in grant funding for projects that advance the profession; supported the future of pharmacy through more than $100,000 in student pharmacist scholarships; and developed leadership programs that equip healthcare practitioners with the skills and resources they need to lead others and the profession. Over the years, the Foundation has embarked on many initiatives to continue leading the profession into a positive future. In addition, MPF holds events to raise funds for grants and scholarship and program support and to encourage mentoring relationships and motivate pharmacy professionals to advance their chosen profession. The Foundation also sponsors an MPA award to encourage community involvement. The Fred W. Arnold Public Relations Award is presented at the MPA Annual Convention & Exposition each year to recognize outstanding achievement and dedication to the pharmacy profession through public service and education.

For more than 20 years, the Foundation has awarded in excess of $275,000 in grant funding. MPF typically allocates $10,000-15,000 annually toward investing in the advancement of the profession. The amount varies each year based on the success of the Foundation's fundraisers and return on investments from past contributions from generous donors. One of my favorite moments was to be a panelist speaking to students from the health professional leadership academy (HPLA) for the Michigan Pharmacy Foundation with fellow Michigan Board of Pharmacy Member maria young and the Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer patient services at Blue Cross Atheer Kaddis We spoke at the Michigan Pharmacists Association convention in downtown Detroit. That evening we told the students to never give up and anything is possible if they keep following their dreams. The Michigan Pharmacy foundation is now selecting both Pharmacists AND Pharmacy technicians for enrollment in the class. The deadline to apply is October 2nd. The class is held virtually in (six) two hour increments with an 8 hour final in person class at the convention. The class starts on October 12th. It is FREE for Michigan Pharmacists Association members! I cannot stress how important it is to develop your skillsets more than ever in this day and age in pharmacy practice. This academy will help improve leadership skills to be a more effective, empathetic, influential, impactful, SERVANT leader. Servant leaders are needed more than ever right now in our profession! I spoke to my dear friend, Rick Drabek from the Michigan Pharmacy Foundation tonight, and here’s what he said…. We are in the process of recruiting applicants for this year's MPF HPLA Leadership Academy. I would be very grateful if you would help us share the information about this MPF program. The class is free to MPA members and $395 for non-MPA members. We are looking to have 16-20 participants for this year's class.
