Here is more great news for to start off a summer week... Congrats to the Atlantic Pacific Companies Pacific team and the entire "village" who worked together to earn a $40 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant from HUD for improvements to Historic Overtown. We have so many great 'Canes at Atlantic Pacific, led by COO Randy Weisburd, Chair of the MHBS Real Estate Advisory Board. https://lnkd.in/eAjzns26
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $325 million to 15 cities as part of the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant program. We are delighted to share that Miami-Dade County is one of the award recipients and today received $40 million for investment in the Overtown neighborhood. Atlantic Pacific Companies is proud to be the housing lead for this award and is excited to work with Miami-Dade County, City of Miami, and Camillus House to revive Overtown, one of Miami’s most important historical areas.

A few pictures from our presentations yesterday. The Summer Scholars were given a development site in Overtown courtesy of multiple-time UM alum Joanne Rosen. Students were tasked with putting together a site plan and valuation analysis. Then they presented their work to the class as an investor pitch.

Last Friday, we took our Summer Scholars Program to visit the offices of Atlantic Pacific Companies. Students learned about the affordable housing market, APs amazing development pipeline, and got a close up view of the new Atlantic Station project which is due to open next year. We really appreciate all the efforts of our gracious hosts Brian Jaffe, Josvianny Rosa Alvarado, Nicolas Menendez, Zoe Nye, Carlos Diaz, and Victoria Sanchez. Thank you all for coordinating. And of course, a huge thank you to our MHBS Real Estate Board Memeber Randy Weisburd for providing our students with such an amazing opportunity!

Here is some great news to start your week.... Long-standing MHBS Real Estate Advisory Board member Edgardo Defortuna, founder and CEO of Fortune International Group, is transforming Brickell's skyline with a new project, Ora by Casa Tua. Last week the firm closed on the final pieces of land for the project and the financing was put together by undergrad alum Scott Wadler and Accelerated MBA in Real Estate alum Michael Thomas Basinski from the local Berkadia office-'Canes helping 'Canes! https://lnkd.in/eYVvguuK

Yesterday, we took our Summer Scholars Program to Wynwood Walls. These high school students spend three weeks on campus and take a course in commercial real estate in the afternoons. They’ve been learning all about the fusion of art and development in Wynwood, so it was exciting to get an up-close view of the community and try out some spray painting.
