Metis employee Remy Morgan helped organize and lead the Planetary Society outreach booth at an elementary school STEAM Fiesta. She helped the students create space-themed buttons and answered their questions about space. Remy had a fun time learning about the children’s interests and found the experience very rewarding.

Jack Lippincott, a Metis DSN Network Operations Project Engineer, played a pivotal role in Voyager 1’s communications recovery. His expertise provided management and configuration of the DSN to target the spacecraft, which is 15.14 billion miles away and requires a 45-hour round trip for messages. This allowed the spacecraft team to reconfigure memory allocation, enabling Voyager 1 to resume communications. We are very proud of Jack and the DSN team supporting Peraton, JPL, and the NASA mission. https://lnkd.in/enab7fWN

On Tuesday, April 9th, a United Launch Alliance Delta IV heavy rocket blasted off from Space Launch Complex 37B at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. This was the final flight of a Delta IV heavy rocket, the world’s third highest-capacity launch vehicle, behind NASA’s Space Launch System and SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy. The name Delta is familiar to those who know their space history. Alongside rocket families like the Atlas, Saturn, Titan, and more recently, Falcon, Delta was an icon of spaceflight for more than a half-century. Metis would also like to recognize two other icons at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station: Mr. Ron Linder and Mr. James Giles. These two Air Force Veterans and safety professionals are members of our Pad Safety Contract, with over 60 years of experience between them. Ron and James supported the range for the last Delta II launch and now for the final Delta IV launch. They verified flight termination systems, oversaw hazardous operations, reviewed procedures, determined roadblock locations all to ensure public safety for Cape employees and the surrounding communities. Metis Vice President of Space Programs Brian Eslinger stated, “I am so proud of Ron and James’ accomplishments over the years, and glad they are on the Metis team.”
