Funded Partner Spotlight: Community Resource & Recreation Center of Canyon Lake is known as "the Hub" because it is THE place where community members know they can get the help they need. CRRC brings together partners and resources for community members to find the assistance such as a food pantry, crisis assistance, health care, recreation programs, a community garden and much more. Its heartwarming to see the community create a central resource hub that make a powerful difference. @MHMSTX is proud to support their work to help their community thrive. This week, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. President & CEO, Jaime Wesolowski, board members Ashley Landers & Dr. Penn Wickersham, and members of the MHM Policy & Advocacy team traveled to Washington, D.C. to take part in American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) annual Leadership Summit & Lobby Day. Held every September, the event brings together 700 ACS CAN advocates to participate in three days of hands-on training, educational seminars, and events before embarking on a mission to meet with every Senate office and more than 350 House offices to advocate for increased funding for cancer research and passage of the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage (MCED) Act. The delegation also attended the moving Lights of Hope ceremony where ACS CAN honors cancer survivors and remembers those lost to the disease. More than 25,000 Lights of Hope – each decorated with the name of a friend or loved one impacted by cancer – circled Constitution Gardens to create the awe-inspiring sight. Cancer is a devastating disease that touches so many lives every day. @MHMSTX is proud to have joined all of those advocating to end cancer as we know it and give people hope. #CancerLobbyDay #LightsofHope
