The Celebrating Life Foundation gave Methodist Richardson Cancer Center a generous and heartwarming donation for its cancer patients and survivors — 100 pink bags filled with gifts designed to boost their confidence in themselves and their appearance. The foundation's goal is to make breast cancer powerless by educating, encouraging, and empowering those impacted by it. Their mission is beautiful!

It was Christmas in July as Santa and Mrs. Claus threw a party for the transplant team at Methodist Dallas. Thomas McDonald (aka Santa Thomas) and Lisa, his wife of nearly 50 years, came back to the hospital for a reunion with their caregivers a few months after Lisa received a lifesaving liver transplant. What a wonderful celebration. For our team, the season of giving lasts all year.

Mike Amman travels a lot for work. So he put off having his routine colonoscopy. When he finally got around to it, the team at Methodist Charlton found a benign tumor the size of a tennis ball. It had to be removed surgically. Fortunately, he had a robotically assisted procedure, which is minimally invasive and often requires shorter recovery times. See how he’s doing at Shine Online: https://lnkd.in/gVDWaVgh

Imagine caring for a baby born three months early and weighing 1 ¾ pounds. That’s just what the nurses and physicians did for 109 days in Methodist Mansfield’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Tiny Rhea was in the right place at the right time. “Thankfully, we have the resources at Methodist Mansfield, as well as a collaborative team structure,” says Bhavisha Bhakta Nunez, DO, OB-GYN. We’re proud of our NICU staff and delighted at Rhea’s progress. Look at her now! Shine Online: https://lnkd.in/g_CdbFwb

We’ve already had 100-degree temperatures, so many of us are heading to the pool or lake to cool off. Just remember that even though the water is refreshing, it comes with real risks, says Benjamin Lo,MD, medical director of the emergency department at Methodist Midlothian. All of us in the ED want you to have the safest summer fun possible. For more tips, see Shine Online: https://lnkd.in/gZPGxsmm

Methodist Charlton hosted a cancer awareness luncheon at Community Missionary Baptist Church in DeSoto. Brandon Roane, MD, gynecological oncologist on the hospital's medical staff, was the featured speaker, and he gave a presentation on ovarian cancer and treatment options. President Michael Stewart also spoke about his commitment to building the community’s trust in our hospital. Over 100 attendees got the message!

The summer heat is affecting all of us. But older adults are even more vulnerable. Our body's cooling systems don't function as well when we age. And the risks of overheating are higher for those taking medications. Anyone over 62 having symptoms of heat exhaustion should head straight to the emergency room, says Dr. Robert Simonson, chair of emergency medicine at Methodist Dallas. He shares some warning signs and ways to cope at Shine Online: https://lnkd.in/g3tZPysb
