About us

Healing is our purpose. Help is our promise. Health is our passion. Mental Health Partners (MHP), a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, was founded in 1962 as the Mental Health Center of Boulder County and opened at the county general hospital on North Broadway in Boulder. The clinic, which was formed thanks to the collective efforts of a group of dedicated citizens, provided services for adult and child clients, as well as an after-care program for clients discharged from mental hospitals. Over the past 60 years, MHP has continued to keep pace with growth and demand. It is considered a leader and innovator in mental health, and it is the only organization providing comprehensive mental health services to residents of Boulder and Broomfield counties regardless of their ability to pay. Today, the organization serves over 21,000 individuals each year and responds to nearly 13,000 calls to emergency psychiatric services annually. MHP employs over 400 dedicated administrative and mental health professionals—including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and peer support specialists. Our team of licensed therapists and support team members are experts in their fields, bringing a wide array of knowledge and diversity to the individuals they serve. MHP runs 20 distinct programs from 9 service locations across Boulder and Broomfield counties, and engages more than 100 community partners including schools, healthcare clinics, nonprofits, local agencies, and businesses. In 2022, MHP announced a partnership with Clinica to open a facility in Nederland. With the verdict in the King Soopers Table Mesa shooting court case announced earlier this week, our community begins another stage of processing the devasting tragedy that happened in March 2021 when 10 beloved community members’ lives were taken. In the weeks that followed, we opened the Boulder Strong Resource Center – in partnership with King Soopers and the City - to support the many individuals and families in our community who were affected. This resource continues to serve folks now. The Center’s trained professionals know that people process grief and trauma differently and on their own timeline. Many types of support are available including therapy. Our goal is to help community members impacted by the tragedy work through the traumatic experience to move forward in their life. If you or someone you know needs support at this time, please visit us at 2935 Baseline Road in Boulder or call 303-545-0844. Your healing is important. https://lnkd.in/g32_m_Fm

Thank you, participants, for engaging your community and taking on the MHP Community Challenge! Donations from the MHP Community Challenge go to suicide prevention trainings and NARCAN, an opioid reversal medication. The fundraiser ends September 30th. MHP offers a variety of suicide prevention trainings. Question, Persuade, & Refer (QPR), is 30-minute virtual training that discusses the warning signs of suicide and how to refer someone to get help. https://lnkd.in/geqGYYgc “Thanks to your QPR suicide prevention training, I knew how to help my next-door neighbor when he told his wife he was going to take his life. We got him to your crisis center and he’s now getting counseling. I’m still processing that I may have actually helped save a life.” -community member

Suicide is preventable; however, Colorado ranks 6th in the country for suicide deaths. In 2021, suicide was the 8th leading cause of death in the state. We cannot prevent suicide alone-- we need your help. https://lnkd.in/dNXzHig The MHP Community Challenge raises money for suicide prevention training and overdose reversal medication. Run, walk, hike, bike, or simply gather with your community to make an impact. Bringing conversations about suicide to light is key to reducing stigma and shame. Together we can create an environment where people can seek support and find help. Together we can save lives. Register for the MHP Community Challenge to help spread suicide prevention awareness. https://lnkd.in/dNXzHig
