We are proud to announce that several of our locations have been awarded the prestigious Energy to Care (E2C) Awards. These awards, presented by the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE), recognize outstanding achievements in energy management and sustainability within health care organizations.   "I am incredibly proud of our team’s dedication to sustainability and energy efficiency, which has earned several of our MemorialCare locations this recognition," says Laurie Sicaeros, Chief Strategy Officer, MemorialCare, who leads the Climate Health initiative for the health system. "The health care industry has historically been challenged with addressing the needs of 24-hour operations, waste from single-use equipment and procedures, and more. I’m proud of our team for putting in place the necessary plans and investments to reduce energy consumption and lower our carbon footprint, aligning with our mission to not only care for our patients but also our planet."   Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gtuhkXNq

Physicians, employees and breast cancer survivors came together at our annual Hope Lives Here events held across our health system to bring awareness to breast cancer and the importance of annual mammography screenings. Many women delay their annual mammogram, due to various reasons, such as the fear of a negative outcome, which can result in cancer being caught in later, more advanced stages. Every mammogram at our nine MemorialCare Breast Center locations are read by a team of sub-specialized, dedicated breast radiologists who focus solely on breast care. This focus and experience results in higher quality, more accurate mammograms. Don’t delay your care. Online scheduling is available 24/7 for new and existing patients at https://lnkd.in/gRgpSJdm.

The 2024 Dancing for Our Stars gala took place earlier this month, benefiting MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center and MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. Throughout the night, five dancers who have personal connections to our Long Beach hospitals showcased their best moves and one was crowned the 2024 champion. Congratulations, Josephine Molina! Thanks to the support of our generous community, nearly $575,000 in total proceeds was raised for our hospitals. MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center has announced its inaugural Foundation Endowed Chair, Dr. Linda Chan, medical director of radiation oncology at the MemorialCare Cancer Institute. Endowed chairs are typically named for a single donor family, but this Foundation Endowed Chair represents the impact of thousands of Foundation donors over 50 years, and the earnings from this $1 million endowment will empower the chair holder to develop dynamic, hospital-based programs that benefit patients. Dr. Chan, in partnership with program leaders, will use the Foundation Endowed Chair funds to invest in revolutionary technology and clinical program expansion, and provide education to patients within the South Orange County community to ensure a healthier future.
