It's time for IoT companies to develop a whole new understanding of their business. But how? 🤔 François Baldassari shares 4 tips on how to think like a software company. 1: Build software proficiency. 👩💼 🏢 ⚙️ Invest in upskilling teams and cultivating a software-first culture. 2: Develop visibility. 👀 Observability is key to building well-working embedded products in this modern world of software-enabled devices. 3: Prioritize OTA. ✔️ You need a strategy and plan as to how you’re going to handle, triage, and solve issues. 4: Elevate security standards. 🔐 There are more connected devices than ever before. And the more data is flowing, the more valuable it becomes to hackers. Read on for more tips and insights => https://hubs.la/Q02FN-Xd0

The first IoT reliability platform for debugging, monitoring, and updating connected devices on any hardware.
About us
Memfault is the first IoT reliability platform that empowers teams to build more robust devices with software at scale. We believe that device reliability engineering will transform how developers build and operate IoT and edge devices with more productivity and more collaboration. As IoT applications continue to grow in complexity, it is more important than ever for developers to have Memfault’s performance monitoring, device debugging, and OTA update capabilities built into their fleet of devices for proactive device operations. We built Memfault to enable developers with a more scalable and sustainable process to accelerate go-to-market, de-risk product launches, cut product costs, and deliver overall superior products. By providing support for RTOS, bare metal, Android, and Linux devices, Memfault gives developers new flexibility and control over connected product development and device operations.

Memfault
Internet of Things (IoT) Software
Memfault is the first IoT reliability platform that empowers developers to build devices with software at scale by employing device reliability engineering (DRE) techniques. Memfault is a one-stop-shop for performance monitoring, device debugging, & OTA updates. Memfault can be integrated into any embedded device with Embedded Linux, Embedded Android (AOSP), & ARM or ESP32 MCUs irrespective of the RTOS or connectivity path. Using Memfault SDKs, full device coredumps, backtraces, debug registers, logs, & custom metrics are collected with ease. Because data structures collected are framed into packets as small as 9 bytes, they can be transported via Bluetooth, LTE, WiFi, LoRa, Zigbee, or even proprietary protocols with ease. Memfault analyzes data in the cloud to classify the issue, identifies a possible root cause, automatically deduplicates similar issues, & sends alerts when problems are detected. From the web app, you can view individual issues & get an overview of fleet health.

Customer support teams for IoT devices have a tough job. They often have to field vague requests and consumer complaints like: - Why did my battery die in a day instead of a week? 🔋 - Where’d my steps go? 🏃♀️ - Why won’t the device connect to my Android phone? 📱 It’s extremely hard for engineers to root cause a problem with these types of reports. So many different variables can make things go wrong, you basically have to be psychic to reproduce this type of thing at your desk. As a result, support teams often have to rely on playbook responses. ("Did you try turning the device off and on again?") And if all else fails, users are asked to send the unit back into the office so engineers can try and debug locally. This type of feedback loop is super slow, and it’s expensive to scale this type of support. 🐌💲😡 There's gotta be a better way, right? 🤔 Check out this new article by Memfault CTO and co-founder Christopher Coleman for practical advice on how customer support and engineering teams can work better together. 🤝 https://hubs.la/Q02GYGyN0 #iot #customersupport #engineers #bettertogether
