Community health centers are critical to #MaternalHealth in under-resourced communities. Today, CEO Louise McCarthy participated in a congressional briefing and shared how CHCs offer more than just clinical care, they support mothers with mental health services, pregnancy and nutrition education, and guidance on issues such as housing, transportation and family support. To sustain this work, however, CHCs need more resources--human and financial. Congress and state legislatures must invest in health centers. #ValueCHCs

CCALAC, in collaboration with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, launched a QI coaching program that allowed participating FQHCs to build new competencies and achieve measurable improvements in how they managed their patients’ chronic diseases. Congratulations to Anthony Wright on being named the next leader of Families USA, the national, non-partisan health care consumer advocacy organization. For 22 years, Wright has led Health Access California, the statewide health care consumer advocacy coalition. Under Wright’s leadership, Health Access has achieved numerous victories for California’s health care consumers.   CCALAC is a member of the #Health4All and #Care4All coalitions, led by Health Access. We’re grateful for Wright’s partnership and advocacy on expanding access to care and moving California closer to Health4All. We wish him well in his new role and look forward to future opportunities to partner in our advocacy for an equitable and just health care system.
