Congratulations to Ron and Joan, MedStar Health HeRO award recipients! This prestigious award is given to MedStar Health associates that take a proactive approach to safety and exemplify the principles of a High Reliability Organization (HRO). Ron and Joan received the award for their call-to-action during a complicated IABP/ECMO transport request. Their commitment to our “Safety-Obsessed” culture led to a comprehensive proactive risk assessment and a redesign of our transport protocols in order to ensure the safest, highest quality care for these complex patients. Giving a big shoutout to our very own Cindy for her recent promotion to Lead Pilot at MedSTAR Transport! Cindy proudly served in the USAF for eight years before joining the Metro family, and we are so lucky to have her. MedSTAR Transport transports around 6,000 patients each year to and from MedStar Health facilities throughout the Baltimore and greater Washington, D.C., area. Congratulations, Cindy, and keep up the great work!
