Media Tech Sustainability Series
Broadcast Media Production and Distribution
Driving knowledge exchange that delivers substantive change so that the media industry can operate sustainably.
About us
Addressing the who, what, where, and how of sustainability in Media Tech. Sustainability is not a ‘fit and forget’ add on – it needs to be embraced in practically every corner of the industry across technology, production, delivery, supply chains, buildings and infrastructure, energy sources, and travel. Critically, to drive the necessary change and commitment, it is essential that there is an understanding of sustainability by everyone working in the industry. The Media Tech Sustainability Series is conceived to address this understanding; from there, positive change will flow.

Media Tech Sustainability Series reposted this
A big thanks to the Media Tech Sustainability Series for inviting The Flint to speak alongside Tommy Flanagan and John Pabon yesterday. The purpose of our panel was to pull no punches in our assessment of the media industry's sustainability progress. Job done. Thanks, Dom Robinson, for the opportunity to publicly air some concerns. My fear is that we'll be seen as courting controversy when the science of where we are right now is so uncontroversial it's almost banal. MTSS is a two-day event and it's a really top-notch gathering of media tech experts, talking about practical solutions and real engineering problems in sustainability. And it's just one step of a cycle of events that Lisa Collins and Barbara Lange have put together to keep building momentum in the media tech space. The next MTSS event will be at IBC - International Broadcasting Convention in Sept (The Flint will be there!). Making events a regular, predictable part of the calendar is essential, so we can all look ahead to our next check-in point. Congratulations on another success, Lisa and Barbara! See you in Amsterdam in September!

Where does your hamburger come from? Is it ethically sourced? Is it sustainably made? 🤔🌿 Maybe this doesn't matter to you, but if it does, you'll probably look it up! If producers want to buy a sustainable product, then shouldn't we be asking how content is made? 🤔 Where does it come from? How is it sourced? How is it made? Interesting, and provocative questions! Transparency is key. It was great to chat this through with powerhouses Rohan Mitchell from EMG and Steve Knee CEO of Cloudbass. As broadcast service providers we each approached the topic in different ways, but all united in our missions to do better for people and planet. 🌿 Thanks to Lisa Collins and Jenny Priestley for getting us in the room and for the write-up in TVBEurope!

A great write up here from Jenny Priestley from one of our sessions yesterday.
Yesterday I was delighted to host a panel at Media Tech Sustainability Series where we talked about 'greenhushing' in the industry (shout out to David Davies who told me about that term). Our brilliant panel had some interesting thoughts on the topic, so of course I've written about it. Thanks to Rohan Mitchell, Claire Wilkie and Steve Knee for making my job as moderator so easy, and Lisa Collins and Barbara Lange for inviting me to be part of the event. https://lnkd.in/ehr7Kji3
