On July 17, General Manager Eng, System-Wide Accessibility, The RIDE, the Mobility Center, and Bus Operations Training School joined the City of Boston at its ADA Day celebrations. “The work to take place on the Braintree branch in September is unprecedented but long needed,” said General Manager and CEO Eng. “The MBTA is committed to not only restoring our system to deliver safe and reliable service, but we are focused on building it back better. While each of these critical but necessary closures impacts your travels in the short term, the public will gain long-term benefits. Once complete, we estimate that our riders taking a round trip between Braintree and JFK/UMass stations will save 24 to 27 minutes a day." “The Healey-Driscoll Administration understood from the beginning that rebuilding our workforce was paramount to restoring the reliability of safe public transit. I’m thankful for the efforts across our organization that negotiated and settled these contracts with our labor partners in record time. These contracts provide a level of stability we haven’t seen in decades,” said General Manager and CEO Eng. “Union workers and the new hires we’re eager to bring on are on the frontline of providing reliable safe service for many communities. I’m so proud to stand side by side with the MBTA workforce.” ICYMI: We're proud to have successfully negotiated agreements with all 28 affiliated labor unions. This monumental achievement finalizes 4-year contract terms for all 16 collective bargaining agreements, rectifies long-standing labor concerns, and aims to strengthen and expand our workforce. https://ow.ly/HXzE50SzOJn #MBTA #Massachusetts #Workforce #EmployeeRetention #Careers

“We are committed to rebuilding our infrastructure making our stations more welcoming and fully accessible for all. On July 1, the MBTA reopened the center platform at Union station for our Worcester passengers,” said General Manager and CEO Eng. “Union station is a critical transportation hub for the Worcester community. The upgrades will ensure safe and more reliable service that allows two trains to serve the platform, which is a significant improvement to prior service that was limited to only one train at Union station. The reopening of this platform is another step forward towards improving service to the Worcester area. Thank you to the leadership of the Healey-Driscoll Administration for their focus on the MBTA and the services we provide to better enable us to deliver this critical project. I’m proud of the dedicated hard work of the MBTA Capital Delivery team and appreciate the support of the Worcester community; as we welcome you back to this new and improved platform.” On July 9, General Manager Eng joined Lt. Governor Driscoll, City of Worcester Mayor Petty, MBTA Board Member Goodwine, local elected officials, and stakeholders to officially celebrate the opening of the new fully accessible, high-level, center-running platform at the Commuter Rail's Worcester Union station.
