Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of 40 biotech-curious students from around the world, including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and Russia. They toured MBC BioLabs and heard from two of our wonderful resident scientists and founders, Bennett Kapili from Envivo Bio and Christin Glorioso, MD PHD, from NeuroAge Therapeutics. The group stayed and joined our community for a Founders at Work seminar featuring Trevor Martin, co-founder and CEO of Mammoth Biosciences. Over 90 attendees listened as Trevor shared his journey from the early days at MBC BioLabs to leading and scaling a company at the forefront of applied CRISPR technology. A 15-year-old guest from Austin, Texas astutely asked, "It seems like you have to navigate a lot of uncertainty leading a startup - how do you do that?" Trevor acknowledged that the student had identified the hardest part of running a biotech company and shared some words of wisdom about the discipline and teamwork required to make tough decisions without complete data. Thank you to the Silicon Valley Fellowship for bringing this dynamic and curious group of students to MBC BioLabs! And thank you to our engaged audience who attended, contributed to the discussion, and made the seminar a success. See you next time!
