Drivers from all over the state competed in nine different classes, from 5-Axle Sleeper Berth Tractor-Semitrailer to Step Van. Congratulations to Span Alaska drivers Sam Russell for the Best Pre-Trip Inspection Score and Kadeon Jimmy for 3rd Place in the Step Van competition! Today, June 28th, we recognize and celebrate the critical role of logistics in our economy and everyday lives. According to the TIA (Transportation Intermediaries Association), the U.S. freight system moved 19.7 billion tons of freight worth $18.8 trillion. More than nine million Americans rely on the logistics industry for their primary income. Today, the U.S. logistics industry is worth $343 billion. 3PLs arrange the shipping of all types of goods by cargo vessel, airplane, truck, and rail. They do so economically, adding value to the supply chain through cost savings and continuous efficiency improvements. Matson Logistics is proud to be part of this vibrant and vital industry, one that makes our lives more connected, safer, and enriched. And in doing so, we enhance the commercial and cultural fabric of the communities in which we do business, and promote opportunities that increase prosperity for all. #nationallogisticsday

Today is International Day of the Seafarer. The Day of the Seafarer (25 June) was established to recognize the unique contribution made by seafarers worldwide to international seaborne trade, the world economy, and civil society as a whole. The resolution "encourages Governments, shipping organizations, companies, shipowners and all other parties concerned to duly and appropriately promote the Day of the Seafarer and take action to celebrate it meaningfully." Matson relies on our seafarers every day to move freight better than anyone. Today and every day, we thank you for all that you do
